Last week, I was speaking with a small group of driven women entrepreneurs, the kind who are launching — and filling– programs and live events. The kind who are DO-ers, the kind that I’m (frankly) HONORED to stand among. One of them had just come back from an event… one at which she anticipated selling five figures worth of her programs.
Her total sales from the event,
$0.
A goose egg.
Gulp.
ONLY because I knew that she and I had a private conversation scheduled JUST AFTER our group time… did I bite my tongue. =)
You see, if she’d sold $2500 instead of five figures…
or $5000 instead of five figures…
I may have been able to entertain thoughts of:
- wrong event,
- wrong vendor table AT the event,
- poorly orchestrated vendor experience at the event,
- poor sales OFFER or STRATEGY,
- having the WRONG people working the event,
- or something like that.
BUT, because there were NO sales,
I knew there was but ONE problem:
People weren’t being ASKED to buy.
Now, she and I were able to laugh at this oversight… and delve into a bit of sales resistance “stuff.” This woman is brilliant at what she does and the world needs her. I’m happy to report that she’s back on track.
But, WHENEVER you need an immediate sales breakthrough… my dear friend,
you’ve GOT to DOUBLE DOWN on your ASKING.
Plain and simple.
The sales breakthrough you may be looking for today,
or the one you might need tomorrow,
or in 10 years,
is ALWAYS a trifecta of the following:
Frequency, Energy & Offer.
FREQUENCY
Ask MORE people to buy.
Ask a lot.
When you think you’ve asked TOO many people to join your program, come to your event, or give you permission to help them… ask 10 more. NO THING will EVER eliminate your role as primary sales person for your brand, so my suggestion is to get damn good at it…. through PRACTICE.
ENERGY & EFFECTIVENESS
Look. You’re an entrepreneur.
You get paid when you SELL something.
So, up your sales game.
Invest in learning how to sell… through content, through speaking, through sales letters.. WHATEVER,
but you OWE it to your brand and bank account to approach sales with an upbeat energy AND a PROVEN effectiveness.
Selling is a skill.
It can be taught and it can be learned.
Up your selling game.
Finally, the
OFFER
How can you up your offer?
How can you make it irresistible?
What could you ADD?
What could you take away?
How might you re-package it to make it easier to understand?
Is there a bonus you could add?
How can you make your offer MORE compelling?
If you need money TONIGHT,
focus ONLY on frequency.
It will push you outside of your comport zone, but here’s the BEAUTY of this sales breakthrough:
FREQUENCY takes care of energy, effectiveness and offer.
The NATURAL OUTCOME of selling more…
is getting better at selling.
IN ASKING MORE PEOPLE TO BUY,
THE FREQUENCY,
you’ll ALSO — naturally — up your energy, effectiveness and offer.
In summary,
go out there and sell something.
The economy is counting on you.
