(And that’s assuming success is ever reached, which is definitely not guaranteed… as success LIKES speed.)
I love women entrepreneurs and find kindred spirits in nearly all of those I meet. At our core, we are driven, creative, and EASILY distractible because we’re multi-passionate AND multi-talented. Maybe we don’t SAY NO as much as we should, but we don’t TAKE NO for an answer very easily either. We have a vision that some of us embrace — no matter how grandiose— and others play a bit coy with… thinking, “That can’t be possible for me! Is it?”
But we DO have the vision.
So, to you I say:
If you see that vision inside of you,
if if keeps NAGGING
and GNAWING at you,
if it won’t go away,
If you feel triggered and angry when you see another woman START succeeding at that level,
(Oh yeah, I see you woman!)
It’s not only POSSIBLE for you, it’s probable for you.
But just because you’re born for it doesn’t mean it will happen. Just because it’s YOUR purpose in this life doesn’t mean it will happen. You MUST live into the vision in order to bring it fully to life.
(and I mean FULLY,
not some watered down,
sort-of-okay,
almost like a black and white version of
your ACTUAL vision.)
The problem is, days are short,
and women embrace many roles.
We are women, lovers, wives, sisters, mothers, grandmothers and friends.
So WILD success
the likes of which makes you proud when you show up at an event or when you lay your head down at night
demands a certain level of speed.
Otherwise, and I hate to be THIS blunt, but you’ll run out of time. In your day, yes… but one day, you’ll ULTIMATELY run out of time. And for me, I refuse to go down with the regret of leaving ANY of my potential on the table. I intend to die old, but no matter when death finds me, I will have lived and loved FULLY until that day. That is my commitment… to live fully into EVERY facet of my purpose and potential:
that as a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and — one day — Namma.
So, what slows women entrepreneurs down in business? Many things, but here are the TOP THREE speed bumps:
🛑 The Half-Way In #BizWoman.
She talks a great game and – I believe – truly wants to go all in. (And she’s fully capable!) She loves the idea of being a ‘trep, of making her own hours, of living on her own steam. But the hard truth is, she hasn’t REALLY committed yet. Not fully. If she’s still working her full-time job, she’s set no QUIT date. If she’s being supported financially by her husband, she’s okay with that. Even if she’s really in business for herself and already making money, she approaches her market with a “wait and see what happens” energy.
Bottom line: She likes the idea of being an entrepreneur, but she’s still VERY employable. Plan B doesn’t look too bad to her. She’s got a ton of potential, but a ton of timidity too.

🛑 The “Authentic” Stepfordpreneur
This is the woman in business who SORT of embraces authentic marketing. But she’s moving slow because the poor woman’s got splinters. Splinters from riding the fence between stepfordpreneur march – with their apps and their hot-shot-of-the-day platform – and the approach that LIGHTS UP HER SOUL, that of monetizing HER VERY ESSENCE without the thought and burden of polish and prim and proper.
She moves slow, because she weighs EVERY word, every post, every response… against the “model” set out by her industry. Like a real-life, 5-D woman comparing herself to an airbrushed 2-D image of a supermodel… and never feeling QUITE ready for her close-up as a result.
She PLAYS authentic,
And she shows a BIT of authenticity,
But playing authenticity isn’t really a thing.
Just as I can’t play pregnant
or play mom
or play faithful to my man.
I am EITHER these things or I am not.
I am never “playing mom” or on MOM ‘duty’.
I am ALWAYS mom
this is the lens through which I see the world.
It’s ALWAYS there.
So, pretending you’re “being authentic” because you shared ONE post with a vulnerable idea in it – after sending it off to be polished, SEO’d up, and laid out perfectly– is like ignoring a 3-year long affair because on Thursday, you didn’t answer your boy toy’s phone call, and calling yourself faithful. #delusional
Authenticity in marketing
PERSONALITY in marketing
means showing up AS YOU,
not the marketer, you…
But as the REAL you.
You can’t be going all in on an AUTHENTIC approach to marketing while still trying to earn the “applause” of the internet marketing gods. For speed and for comfort, pick a side. Get off the fence and run the race in front of you.

The blogging, video-ing, reel-ing, posting, speaking, all of it…
Is to stand out.
So, EVERY time

That’s why the stepfordpreneur march is ALWAYS the slowest way to go.

🛑 The woman who questions herself.
I once had a friend talk about me and say, “The whole world can tell Michelle NO, but she’ll never tell HERSELF no.”
Nothing breaks my heart 💔 like the woman who – so FULL of potential and promise and expertise and skill – never fully backs herself. The woman who allows herself to be silenced, she who doesn’t have a KNEE JERK response to being challenged or dictated to, the woman who is more afraid of other people’s opinions than they are afraid of dying with their music, their message, their purpose still buried deep within them, never to see the light of day.
I love to make room for other people’s opinions, but they have no REAL bearing on me, what I think of me, what moves I make in ANY area of my life.
Who was it that said that other people’s opinions of you are none of your business? I can’t remember but I wholeheartedly agree.
