I’ll be very upfront with the fact that I have never been in the direct sales industry myself. However, I have mentored a good number of these entrepreneurs and those I have mentored are in the tippy top of their companies… earning incomes that (in the beginning) left my mouth agape.
Example: YOU MADE WHAT?!?! SELLING JEWELRY???
I have seen three strategies that MUST be at play in order to succeed financially in these industries. Before I head into that territory, I need to address the failure rate and “losing money month after month” rate of this industry.
It IS high.
95% in most cases.
HOWEVER, the failure rate for businesses in GENERAL is still hovering around 80%.
And, USUALLY, the way these “Opportunities” are pitched actually aTTRACTS the woman hoping for riches, but not really willing to work for them. So, I think THIS is the real reason behind the astounding failure rate. Those who work the business, like a business… succeed.
But they succeed FASTER when they follow these three uber-specific strategies:

Listen, compensation plans are complex and important.
Once you are IN a company,
you’ll want to really dig into the comp plan so that you can MAXIMIZE and DIRECT your efforts.
But when SELLING someone on the opportunity, you will get FAR MORE YESes with something WAY more visual and simple:
Example, remembering that for most people even $500 extra a month would be life-changing:
— My 2 Party Per Month Plan —
I host two parties per month, using referrals from each party to fill the next month’s calendar. With two parties per month, I make an average of $434.17 on retail sales. But I also enroll _____ of people into a continuity subscription for _________. This allows me to earn an extra $108 per month.
Now based on these numbers, let’s say my first month as a distributor was in January.
Assuming NO digital reach or sales,
NO outrageous party sales,
NO ONE signing up to sell under you,
NO company promotions driving sales,
NO customers buying NEW products to try,
but including our company’s subscription retention rate of 6 months, I can count on another $119 per month in residual fees from those January subscriptions.. for approximately six months.
This means in February, I could keep the same 2 party plan… and earn $434 + $108 + $119 = $661
In March …
$434 + $108 + $119 + $119.
In April….
$434 + $108 + $119 + $119 + $119
Obviously every company is different and these numbers are made up, but you could create YOUR OWN 2 party per month plan and show prospects how this can add up!
Do you see how much SIMPLER this is to sell?

If you are selling a weight loss product and you’ve been selling this product for even THREE months,
you should KNOW someone who has lost some weight. lol….
Why keep sharing company-created before and after pictures? YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR OWN.
If you don’t,
CREATE your own
using your own body.
If you sell vitamins, supplements, oils,
SHARE stories of those you KNOW
who have been deeply impacted by your products.
When you rely ONLY on corporate or heavily shared pics and testimonials, every THINKING customer is wondering why you don’t personally know anyone transformed by these transformational products.
Also, share your own tips…

recipes, etc…
about how to get the most out of what you sell.

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT: DEMONSTRATE WHY THEY SHOULD BUY FROM FROM **YOU** AND WHY THEY SHOULD JOIN **YOUR** TEAM.
I know you can rattle off the corporate talking points of why YOUR products are better than anyone else’s products. I know you can tell me why yours are more pure, more researched, more whole, last longer, do more, etc.
But look…
I can buy those products from ANYONE.
And you are actively recruiting others who I could choose to buy those exact products — at those exact prices — from. That is the structure of your industry.
AND… I hate to point out the elephant in the room because I know no one is “ALLOWED” to sell these products on Amazon or eBay or on Craigslist. BUT they do.
So, WHY>>>>>>>>

do I have such a hard time talking MLM’ers into the whole content marketing, branding thing??????
I mean, YOU are RECRUITING your competition in a very real sense so if you are not DELIBERATELY branding yourself, you are REALLY missing out. Start by answering these two questions or you’re going to struggle unnecessarily.
1) Why buy my products from YOU????
Maybe it’s because you educate me on how to use them. Maybe because you’re my doctor and I trust you. Maybe it’s because you TEST all the products and give me updates on hacks and uses. Maybe it’s because you are more accessible to me in the first month. Maybe because you’re enrolling me in some bonus challenge.
Whatever the answer,
HAVE an answer.
2) Why join YOUR team?
Maybe it’s because you’re a natural-born marketer, and you’re going to GIVE me the content to market my business. Maybe it’s because you have mentored a high number of people at a certain rank in the company? Maybe it’s because you’re a wiz at party sales or social media and you’re going to teach me how to succeed that same way?
