I wrote Part One of this post in 2017 and it was a HIT. But just know that this is a continuation, a part two.
There are so many similarities between sex and selling and sex and success… They both require many of the same things. Confidence. Consent. Fun. Trust. Size.
Stay with me. I know what I said.
Here are 5 more similarities between sex and selling for women entrepreneurs:
🍆 With both sex and selling, confidence is HUGE. It sets the tone, it allows for exploration, it is MAGNETIC. Insecurity, however, is a repellant. Insecurity in business is a deal killer. If you’re not confident in yourself and your offer, I suggest you keep your day job.
I once made up the term, “confidence-d.” It was a marriage of confident and convinced. Confident that what you offer can’t be found “just anywhere” and convinced they’d be foolish not to take you up on your it.

🍆 With both sex and selling, trust is PARAMOUNT for mind-blowing results. Without trust, you can only go so far. Whether that’s small $19 purchases in business… or safe, vanilla sex.
WITH trust, though, you can really let yourself go. Your clients sign up for the bigger offers. They go all in. They’re not testing the waters anymore.
🍆 Both sex and selling require SOME pre-work. 😊 There’s a reason women will go to a bar unshaven or with their “period panties” on. It’s so they are GUARANTEED to come home alone! 😊 Women generally like to keep their situation “situated” in that regard. It boosts confidence.
But selling is the same. You don’t want to go into a sales conversation without some basics boosting your confidence. You want to know who you’re talking to, do some research (in 2019.. it’s easy!), know why they are likely to buy, what questions they are likely to ask… and what they need to hear from you to be confident making a buying decision.
Don’t skip the pre-work and show up all scraggly to a sales conversation.
🍆 In BOTH sex and selling, predictable, routine and robotic is GROSS and BORING. And probably awkward.
Anything scripted in selling — or sex — is weird. And if you’ve got the confidence, the trust and you’ve done your pre-work, why not just go with the flow? Why not just show up and let things unfold naturally? Trust me, it works. #putdownthatsalesscript
Side note: START with a script if you have to…. KNOW what phrases work. Memorize even a couple of your best lines. BUT, do not stay in this high school lane of selling. Graduate. Move up. And bob and weave with your market.
🍆 In both sex and selling, the size (of your thinking) matters. It just does. The brain is the BIGGEST sex organ we have. Engage it for sex. And your mind is the BIGGEST tool you can use to call in sales.
Thinking small hurts your income, your brand and even your market. When you leave the room, you want them to know you were there. Thing BIGGER. There’s a certain magic to it!
