(#4 is perhaps the most pervasive, and controversial)
Admittedly, I was a bit “set off” this morning after my morning STROLL through the book of faces revealed no less than 7 paid ads from NEW coaches promising something “PROVEN.” A blueprint, a “hack” (of course), a framework.
Proven. Over what? One launch? One year? One idea? I once spoke with a woman who was teaching others a PROVEN way to put on “EPIC” events, and when I asked about profit, EVERY ONE OF HER OWN events had resulted in a financial loss. ($20K – $40K) In her words, “luckily, my husband understands success takes time and can support this.”
Lucky indeed.
Anyway, before the keyboard warriors take up arms against me, I DO know what industry I’m in. I DO know that I sell success strategies, AND also..
EVERYTHING I TEACH
IS — in fact —
proven.
Over time. (Decades.)
Across industry.
And Regardless of “Personality” of woman at the helm, chosen social platform (or no social platform), or even economy (recessionary or booming.)
What I teach is:
PRINCIPLES
that
WILL NOT
and CAN NOT
be mocked.
Or hacked.
Or skipped.
or ignored.
on your way to build the success you desire.
A LOT of what is being taught is actually MOCKING principles that well… are like gravity. Like it or not, ignore it or not, it still applies.
Jump from a tall building and NO MATTER your meditation status, or how many people were chanting at the time, or how fervently you believe in “magic,” you WILL fall. Hard.
Business is the same as anything else.
Health.
Marriage.
Relationships.
Success DEMANDS respect of its principles. And a lot of business “coaching” — often taught by well intentioned people who are HOPING that what THEY bought will actually WORK for them and for others, but as of yet… it has not — sells outright lies that DO harm people, by ignoring principles that ARE as finite as gravity.
Also, in my virtual stroll this morning, I came across a stranger closing her business. She was bitter and broken hearted. My heart ached for her. She had clearly put her all into that business. She felt like she was a failure. In reality… she’d followed all the “new” rules of “online business” which
do not
and
cannot
work.
So, here are JUST FIVE of the ways that this industry,
my industry
is HARMING the very people they aim to serve and help.
👀 There is a DEMONIZATION of work. 👀
Success in any area requires effort. Business is no different. You can visualize and vision board and meditate and pray and journal (I do ALL of these things.) but you will STILL have to take action.
I DO love my work. It feels like FLOW to me.
But I CHOSE this work,
and OVER TIME,
I customized how MY business ran
to suit me PERFECTLY.
This did not happen over night
and it did not happen without effort.
Work is noble. There is no hack that will help you avoid it. Keep in mind even the author of ‘The four hour work week” admitted in his NEXT book that after all that work, he needed a multi-month sabbatical. 😊 4-hours, my booty.
👀 There is an attempt to DISTANCE between cause and effect. 👀
No matter what,
we live in a cause and effect world.
If you set a goal you want,
(an effect)
you MUST BE WILLING
to be the CAUSE of that thing happening.
In my 1:1s with WOW members, I OFTEN ask WHAT they are DOING to reach a specific goal. Then, I ask them a follow up question: “is that the most obvious, natural, common sensical way to get there?”
I like short, DIRECT paths for success.
I am suspicious of “in order to” goals.
So, KNOW why you are doing what you’re doing, what you are hoping to gain from it, so you can MEASURE whether it’s working.
If it’s working, keep doing it.
If it’s not, replace it.
👀 They are using Personal Development and Business Development INTERCHANGEABLY 👀
Yes, success WILL be a crash course in personal development. Absolutely.
AND the things I do to grow me will create increased CAPACITY for my own success. No doubt, and no way around this. Your business CANNOT and WILL NOT outperform its creator.
BUT…. 😊
learning the BUSINESS end,
Mastering the BUSINESS development tools and strategies
for positioning and sales and packaging and pricing and marketing and media….
THIS determines your income.
Period, end of story.
It is not the best SURGEON that makes the most money, it’s the best marketed, packaged, positioned surgeon that makes the most money. Trust me, I wish it were the other way around, but wishing… doesn’t make it true.

👀 They’re actually TEACHING their clients to talk in a way that flat out REPELS clients. 👀
Look, there’s regular speak.
And then there’s coach speak.
Enlightenment. Elevated. Queen This and Goddess that. Ascension.
It’s not that I hate these words, it’s that ONLY coaches talk this way. 😊 So, if you’re hoping to work with anyone OTHER than coaches, your content WILL FALL on deaf ears.
You might have crafted the most exquisite subtitle imaginable… “Ascending the Levels of Elevated Success To Become the Queen of Your Own Chakras,” lol… but it’s all just word salad to anyone BUT other coaches selling something similar.
AND TRUST ME. People who buy based on these etherial descriptions are NOT very dependable clients. They buy emotionally, and they back out emotionally. They change their mind constantly, even as they blame something spiritual like the phase of the moon or some such thing.
To reach clients who STAY with you, you want those who — as spiritual as they may be — think and make decisions practically. Use plain language about what you do, how you help them and why they should say yes right now. 😊 Leave the coach speak behind.
👀 They ignore science and math in favor of hope and delusion. 👀
Look, business success is a practical endeavor. Math and facts matter.
👉 $0 times any number is still $0.
👉 If you can’t make money with a small list, you can’t make money with a large list either. (Making money is a skill. People made a LOT of money before “lists” were even a thing.)
👉 There is A TON of value in measuring REAL numbers: Hours, Dollars, Leads, Phone calls, appointments set, Sales, etc. And there is NO value in measuring made-up numbers: impressions, views, etc.
