Hint: THE MISSING INGREDIENT IS YOU, WOMAN.
Everyone asks questions about “the best” this and “the right” that. What is the BEST way to sell? What is the BEST day to email? What is the RIGHT number of emails to send? What is the RIGHT way to do content marketing? What is the BEST platform to get traction on?
There is NO correct answer to any of this, and anyone who tells you otherwise is full of 💩. (Oh, and they’re getting ready to use that pile of 💩 to sell you something. Run the other way.)
BUT THIS ARTICLE is about the BEST WAY TO PLAN YOUR “every” DAY FOR ULTIMATE SUCCESS.
First, some definitions:
EVERY DAY [err-day] is defined as your AVERAGE nothing special work day / week. Not to be confused with “one day” which does not exist.
ULTIMATE SUCCESS [uhl-tuh-mit suhk-ses] is defined as success entirely on YOUR terms, including the income you desire, doing the work you love, with people you respect and adore, while living a life that makes you proud.
You are getting ready to be inundated with planner options for the new year. Paper and digital. Custom and pre-created. Some that come with a coaching or accountability program. Some that promise to get you up for that “magic” hour. Wall planners and written planners that convert to digital.
BUT, if you do NOT design your “err-day” around YOU, you will keep getting frustrated with your lack of progress, follow through, etc. You will GAG on your regret… promising yourself — AGAIN — that it will ALL happen tomorrow, you’ll get it ALL done this weekend… soothing yourself with these falst promises only to fall into the same trap again and again and again… eventually giving up on ANOTHER year and promising yourself,
“Next year… Next year will be MY year!”
Again.
The missing ingredient for EVERY DAY PLANNING is not another planner. The missing ingredient is YOU.
BUT you must REALLY know yourself in order to plan for ultimate success, as described above. For example, I PREFER to have fully unscheduled days… days when nothing is on my calendar, when I can hike or write or write and hike… mosey around the house, journal, stretch… create entire worlds in my own head.
THIS is what I PREFER,
but these are not my MOST PRODUCTIVE days.
TOO MANY of these days and — for me — I will NOT reach my goals or I will reach them too slowly.
I have to be an adult and weigh my surface level preferences against my deeper level commitment to STRAINING my own potential until it begs for mercy. 😊 I have to weigh my desire for a fanciful day against my desire / COMMITMENT to go to my grave PROUD.
Don’t get me wrong. I Have PLENTY of days as I just described. And I love them. BUT when planning my work routine, my work habits, I now make sure THREE DAYS of each week include some carefully scheduled appointments.

🦊 Carefully scheduled to UP my energy when lallygagging and daydreaming may have drained it. 😊
🦊 Carefully scheduled to allow me to batch certain tasks (often, batching task that require make up / me being camera ready) and allowing me to make multiple use of all of my efforts.
I OBJECTIVELY made note of:
— my energy / focus and passion patterns,
— the “gaps” in my day that were unproductive, and
— when I was MORE likely to promise myself “tomorrow” instead of getting it done today.
And I planned MY “err-day” around ME.
I URGE you to do the same.
And not just for 2022,
but for the remainder of THIS year.
There is still a LOT of life left in 2021.
And I intend to maximize all of it.
