When I was a kid, machete in hand, I’d carve paths in the woods, trails where there were no trails. Weird, maybe… but…
In business, I have done the exact same thing.
Carved NEW paths
over which clients can travel and find me,
and over time,
these new paths
became well worn….
But here’s where my genius was on display for anyone watching.
(NOTE: This worked for my own business, BEFORE I WAS ONLINE but also for other VERY LOCAL brick and mortar businesses including my parent’s construction company, a dry cleaners, a restaurant and a dental office… among others.)
I had no money to advertise and no time NOR patience (or, let’s be honest, personality) to network. YET, I needed money.
So, I FIRST figured out where my clients were already. I asked SIMPLE questions like:
Who did they listen to already?
Who where they already paying?
Who did they trust?
And then I went to THAT person’s door. THIS is where the (profit) path began.
So, figuratively I had only ONE job: to figure out WHY and HOW those already in relationship with my ideal clients could
1) introduce them to ME and
2) encourage them to do business with me.
This was NEVER affiliate based. I did not give away profit.
This HAD TO be a win-win situation… which I created every single time.
