A huge focus in business magazines, conferences and conversations these days is on “Getting MORE Done.” After all, we’ve got more to do, right? I mean, our businesses are more complex today than they were yesterday when you consider all we “have” to do:
- blogging
- tweeting
- facebooking
- following up
- conference attending
- networking
- selling
- creating new packages, pricing strategies, and promotional pushes.
Is it any wonder most business owners’ heads are spinning with options, timelines, and — of course — the stress from the proverbial ball dropped? Of course not. Business today is tough.
But, it doesn’t have to be THAT tough.
In fact, asking “How can I get MORE done in such a crazy hectic world?” is the wrong question to ask. In fact, the question itself BEGS the market to sell you one more “productivity” system that you don’t need and won’t use. Thanks anyway.
The RiGHT question to ask is this:
How can I do LESS in the RIGHT environment?
You see, here’s where I’m digging deep this month with my business development groups and masterminds: MAXIMIZING our Efforts for More Income, Impact and Influence. Maximizing Your Efforts — in its simplest form — requires you do two things:
1) Do LESS “stuff” by knowing what the RIGHT stuff is for you. This means, you’ve got to know what works for your business. It will likely be different from mine. But, ask yourself: Where do your leads come from? Where do your best customers come from? What has worked for you in the past? Do more of this. (Save yourself time by being BOLD enough to STOP doing what’s NOT working for you.)
2) Create the RiGHT environment to work in. Being a business owner doesn’t have to mean living in a frazzled, busy, hectic world. In fact, if you’re SERIOUS about your own success, you’ll learn how to ruthlessly control your environment. Time block, eliminate distractions, plan ahead, defend against interruptions, and — well — create an environment conducive to profit.
There’s a lot more to this whole “Maximizing Your Efforts for More Income, Impact and Influence” topic… but above is a thumbnail sketch to get us started.
