My mom called this morning… to see if I took her Bokos, our new favorite sandals. Fair warning, these sandals don’t make great fashion statements. But, to wear them is to love them. They’ve been one of my all-time favorite sponsor gifts…and I’m not alone. These hardy little shoes go the distance. They stay put on your feet. They’re easy to clean. They seem to even massage your feet while walk.
Matt McManus and his brother, who is also his business partner, started Bokos in 2013. While his brother lived in Bejing, he discovered a pair of sandals styled similarly to the current model of Bokos. After bringing SEVERAL pairs back to America, they discovered their friends and family were just as enthusiastic about them as they were! True story. Wear them once. Love them always. The biggest lesson Matt has learned about business is that nothing happens overnight.
He says, “One of the most important personality traits that a small business owner must have is patience. Apart from a few select ‘overnight success stories,’ generally speaking, it simply doesn’t happen that way. But with patience, diligence, and continued hard work on a daily basis, growth will come!”
