This is a hard post to write.
Only a small percentage will “get it” immediately.
Most will be offended. Or Triggered. Or whatever.
But, those who DO get it,
well… that’s who I’m here to stand beside.
The women entrepreneurs who are born for this,
those who refuse to lose,
but also…
equally…
refuse to follow the rules.
Those women DETERMINED to carve their own path,
not because it’s easy or faster, (it’s not.)
but because it’s ALL their SOUL will allow them to do.
because any thing less than 100% authenticity
anything less than 100% PLAYING IT STRAIGHT
makes them — literally — recoil in self-hate.
Anything less than being ALL of me,
and succeeding AS me,
is vile.
NO amount of fame or money is worth that.
Not to me.
And not to women like me.
Not to women like YOU.
And — in case you’re new to me —
this is from a girl who KNOWS what it is to be broke.
A girl, a wife and a mother…
who HAS been broke.
Dead broke.
And still…
I refused to bend the knee.
I refused to compromise.
I refused to play the game.
I refused to acquiesce.
I refused to pay homage to the bigger names.
I refused to ask for an autograph.
I showed up as a peer, dammit! 😊
I refused to play the role of idolizing, star struck teenager.
and I REFUSED to pay to play.
Ever.
For any reason.
If you’re wondering, this isn’t a recipe for winning a Miss Congeniality award. Of course, that ain’t the award I’m going for.
It IS the recipe of EVERY true leader you follow.
Without exception.
And if you’re not sick of this post yet,
disgusted by it,
triggered by it,
It is the recipe YOU need to follow,
it’s the ONLY “success recipe” that will allow you to respect yourself in the morning.
I want to talk to you today about a certain “business” school,
and it’s alternative…
P-School.
as in, Profit School.
As in, WHAT REALLY MATTERS and MOVES THE NEEDLE IN YOUR BUSINESS school.
Here’s the deal.
I’m not a solid “bet against.”
Because all I know is grit.
And I have a rebellious streak that will never be tamed,
will never play the game,
will never be ruled.
In business, I have been underestimated many times,
but never twice by the same person.
I will always win.
Eventually.
It’s who I am.
And I will do it 100% my way,
because it’s the only way I play.
HARD, INCONVENIENT TRUTH: It sometimes takes me longer.
I forego shortcuts (like paid media in favor of earned media.)
Sometimes I get frustrated with myself over this.
“MICHELLE, just pay the damn $6K already!!! Don’t be such a purist!” My first coach warned me about being TOO committed to my “story.”
But, I can’t do it any other way.
Sometimes I wish I could.
But then, I look around.
And I see the sheeple-preneurs doing their thing,
playing follow the leader,
chanting their popular rhetoric,
sharing the same “attagirl” quotes,
and painting by number…
AS IF they will EVER BE SEEN by FITTING IN.
It doesn’t just trigger me.
It breaks my heart!
Think about it for a minute…
What possible marketing, business or sales WIN
could you have…
by doing things,
showing up,
designing your site,
crafting your sales pages…
LIKE EVERYONE ELSE????
Ugg. Drives me nuts.
It makes NO sense.
Take the “certain business school”
whose affiliate emails are clogging your inbox right now.
I know a woman,
a badass,
a multi-million dollar (self-made) entrepreneur
who got KICKED OUT of that “business school”
for DARING to encourage other “students” to be MORE authentic online.
Shut down, and kicked out.
For not conforming.
To the steps,
to the joining of the dots.
and speaking out.
But for true entrepreneurs,
for true CHAMPIONS,
for true LEADERS,
this sort of LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT march
is worse than death.
Even…
worse than a job.
In the words of Ludicris,
“They ask me How I did it..
I just did it from the heart.”
That’s it.
That’s the recipe for all leaders,
to follow their heart..
to bring ALL of themselves to market.
And I want to show you how to follow YOUR heart…
how to show up RUTHLESSLY and UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU,
