I don’t think it’s any big surprise that I am a Biggie fan. #EastCoast and all that! š BUT one of the things I fell in love with was his absolute UNAPOLOGETIC pursuit of — and later, enjoyment of — success. He spells it out plainly in his song, JUICY.
According to the song, he grew up reading Word Up magazine, watching other people, other rappers ride in limousines and live a lifestyle he didn’t just COVET, but sought to replicate! And despite his doubts, “had no idea rap could take me this far,” he SET OUT TO BE A WILD SUCCESS.
Without apology, he “flaunted” his success: the furs, the 5-carat diamond rings, the limos with drivers, “sipping champagne when he was thirst-ay.” š
And then he spells it out…
a word to the wise for anyone who perhaps thought he should be APOLOGETIC for reaching his “outrageous” goals, for going from HERE to THERE:
“Damn right, I like the way I live.”

and Biggie’s idea
are different. š
BUT, I absolutely love his unapologetic pursuit of a life that he didn’t KNOW was possible, taking a route that had no guarantees, and pursuing something — frankly — he’d ONLY seen “in the magazines.”
Do you KNOW how success breeds success???
HINT: It’s not when we play coy with our successes and dull our shine in some “Noble, relatable” effort to not be resented or gossiped about online.
Success BREEDS success
When INSPIRATION breeds desire,
and desire breeds ACTION instead of resentment.
So, say what you WANT about Biggie.
I know his methods may not be yours,
but he COULD have read that Word UP magazine
and RESENTED their success,
he COULD have come up with MANY reasons why THAT life could never be his…
he COULD have sat around making excuses.
Instead, he got INSPIRED,
and instead of creating excuses,
he created success.
He saw what others had
and set out to get his own.
Excuses are for lazy cowards.
It takes COURAGE to go after what you want.
And I am a VERY courageous woman.
