Of course, it didn’t.
So, wash your hands,
shelter in place
take in-person meetings on line
and all of that.
Be responsible.
But for the sake of all things holy
and for the sake of all things PRACTICAL
woman…
don’t close up shop.
Yesterday someone said to me, “I guess your parents are closing up shop?”
I said, “Why? They are a construction company. Their raw materials don’t come from China. The houses being worked on still need work. And contracts have already been signed.”
Response: “Oh, yeah. I guess that’s true.”
It’s shocking to me how quickly,
how easily
we
— even the entrepreneurs,
those of us who are admittedly unemployable because we can’t follow rules–
roll over and acquiesce to circumstances like this pandemic panic.
Yesterday, someone asked me if people were still buying. WHAT??? You mean, as opposed to two weeks ago? OF COURSE, they’re still buying.
I’m not naive enough to MISS the impact the fear of this virus has had — and will continue to have — on our world market. I’m not ignorant enough to think these bail outs won’t have consequences. And I understand that these times shift our priorities…
But, c’mon.
Do your part.
AT LEAST PRETEND YOU THINK WHATEVER YOU SELL IT IS IMPORTANT.
AT LEAST ATTEMPT TO HOLD A SPACE FOR YOUR MARKET TO CONTINUE TO PURSUE THEIR GOALS.
AT LEAST GIVE A NOD TO THE INDISPUTABLE FACT THAT LIFE ON EARTH WILL NOT END AFTER THIS PANDEMIC.
Their marriage will still need to be fixed…
their health has become even MORE of a priority.
They need to learn QUICKLY how to sell online.
They now have the opportunity to start a side hustle… or to dedicate two full weeks to build their current side hustle. Their mental health is still critical.
Their home’s beauty is even more important.
Their house closing still has to go through.
They still need to shift their company’s culture.
Their employees still need to be more productive.
Their money will still need to be managed.
Their communication skills need even MORE work.
YES, they still need their hair done and don’t even talk to me about my nails.
Their weight will still matter to them.
So, get creative.
And be bold!
HOLD THE LINE!!!
Remind your people what they were up to BEFORE they met COVID-19. Remind them of what they came to do… who they came to be. Don’t be part of this mentality of shifting ALL FOCUS to watching what??? Does the virus spread? That’s what viruses do.
So, be aware,
and take a stand.
For your brand.
For your industry.
For your economy.
And for the future.
Going live today to discuss: Positive Aspects of Quarantine for Business. Around 3 or so… Right here.
