Like breastfeeding vs bottle-feeding,
there seem to be two camps of women entrepreneurs.
Those who wear their hustle badge with honor,
and those who “recoil” at even hearing the word hustle.
This post is for both.
To be fair, I’ve ALWAYS been in the first camp…
embracing the pursuit,
the nobility,
the STRETCH
of the hustle.
Hard work is literally in my DNA. BUT I have somewhat switched over…. =) I only want to do an “aligned” hustle. I want to do the “work” that I get lost in, the work that I “can’t not,” the work that just flows from the very core of who I am.
I have cut out a lot of the superfluous “hustle” that guides SO MANY entrepreneurs. I have NO desire to be “busy,” and am — in fact — not. I want to be purposeful and productive, which — in fact — I am.
So the question comes up from time to time about doing the things you don’t WANT to do. lol… Like, am I just floating through this entrepreneurial journey ONLY doing the work I love????
Largely, yes.
And also… of course not.
If anyone promised you a rose garden as a business, they shouldn’t have . They were liars. (Don’t shoot the messenger.) And also, we’re grown ups. We’re old enough for our daily wants not to lead us around by the nose.
So, here’s what it comes down to for me:
I don’t LOVE every thing I do every minute of every day.
BUT,
I exercise COMPLETE DOMINION over every minute of every day .. and use EACH day to accomplish my purposes.
I don’t LOVE every day,
but every day serves me.
Does that make sense?
It’s the same way that I don’t LOVE every run,
but every run serves me.
I have DELIBERATELY designed my life so that my days are both enjoyable and passion-filled, and also productive…. doing the things that get me closer to my goals in all areas of my life.
When you’re mastering your days,
you don’t burn out.
Because each moment is there to support you,
to be used AS YOU WILL IT to be used.
Burnout happens when your day
is open to everyone else’s will…. =)
when your day is acquiescing to too many OTHER agendas..
Burnout happens when you’re doing too much,
of the things that PROBABLY don’t need to be done at all, at least not by you.
Burnout happens when you don’t DELIBERATELY design each day to include activities that inspire and uplift you….
So, no…
burnout is NOT caused by hustle.
It’s caused by the WRONG hustle,
or poorly designed hustle,
or the REACTIVE hustle (vs. proactive).
So, hustle YOUR way, friend.
P.S. I’m doing a thing,
taking you WAY behind the scenes of this little empire i’m building. Giving you ALL the things,
templates,
scripts,
checklists.
The ones I use and profit from DAILY.
And I am announcing this tomorrow. Stay tuned…
