When’s the last time you wanted something so badly, it was ALL you could think about? Had a DESIRE for something so strong, it eclipsed other thoughts, your need to sleep or eat and / or your good sense? Most of the time, the conversations I hear about THIS kind of desire are of a romantic-nature… and it was certainly true for me when I met my Mister.
BUT, I’ve also experienced it with my business. Times when I’d bounce out of bed at a bright and early 3 AM to finish a sales letter or respond to prospects… days that went by with such focus, I barely left my desk… Moments when all I could think about was what’s next… flashes of pure romance between my business and me. =)
Of course, such desire is unsustainable… meaning, you can’t have it apply to you every minute of every day, year after year. BUT, if you don’t have to fight off these delicious moments of desire for all that you and your business can do together — at least occasionally — I’d say your business may be in trouble.
Your desire to succeed — in order to CREATE such success — must be a focused, palpable, unable to be ignored desire.
Focused DESIRE. It isn’t general or vague, but sharp and crisp. Take some time today to revisit what success looks like for you. What are you going after? How will you feel when you finally grasp it? What will this success MEAN for you — or for your family? Focused DESIRE allows you to see the goal with razor-sharp clarity… while all distractions are blurred out of the picture.
To summarize our week-long blog series: Desire is a powerful, intoxicating force. In your business, your desire to succeed should be focused, action-oriented and sacrificial…. it shouldn’t be quelled by the desire for perfect balance or be cut off at the knees by too many “if only” type of parameters. NOT if you want wild, unreasonable results in your business!
