I don’t OFTEN get stuck in my own head about business. I’m pragmatic… I know money and success leaves clues and I am ruthless and relentless about following them. My business has NEVER been burdened with non-business tasks like generating affirmation or applause or acceptance. I keep the business thing pretty “pure.”
Still…
most recently,
a dear
(and I ASSURE you well-meaning, smart & VERY savvy) friend gave me some SOLICITED advice.
She mentioned a few “big names”
and said, “Michelle, you’re so much better than them, BUT… “😊 The dreaded “but”… lol…
“you’ve got to up-level your “branding….”
NOW, I KNOW
that I know that I know…
that branding (visual branding)
REALLY ISN’T why people buy or don’t buy.
Still…. I want to do and be all I can, right???
Of course, I have (less than) ZERO intention of changing my branding
ESPECIALLY to look like,
mimic
or echo someone else.
(Side note: I’m doing a masterclass this week on BRANDING You Can Take to the BANK… What REAL branding is, and how it actually creates cash! It’ll be free — right here on our Facebook page — and complete with an accompanying workbook. Mark you calendar for Thursday at 3 PM EST.)
PLUS, I don’t consider these chicks my competition at all. I mean, when you type in their name, the next “predictive word” that pops up following their name is “scam.” I kid you not. They have PAGES of complaints against them, as well as against their “schools” or “academies.”
The basic complaint: they over-promise and under deliver.
They hook YOU (an entrepreneur) up with a “coach” (their employee) and throw some digital modules at you,
charge a handsome fee for it all
(so they can pay off their affiliates!)
and off you go.
So, no thanks.
BUT…
but but but but but but…
I got in my head.
And a familiar feeling crept up…
a thankfully rare — but STRONG when it shows up —
feeling that i’m JUST NOT FANCY ENOUGH,
not “proper” enough…
in my marketing, in my presentation…
Like I’m not a PROPER entrepreneur…
because
I
don’t
look
act
promise
posture
and HYPE
like “them.”
So I spent some time…
watching their instagram accounts,
wondering if they all shared the same VA,
photographer,
and canva account,
lol…
but still watching.
uggg…
But here’s the thing:
A LOT of women — who invested in this virtual academy or that business school — actually end up finding themselves AT HOME within the walls of Women Who WOW… and in dramatically increasing number. They show up PISSED at the money they’ve wasted but ready to MAKE BANK. 😊
And they are not disappointed.
One such bad ass said to me last week, “I got more out of 20-minutes with you than I did in 4-hours with ________________.”
My response? “I’m so glad. Tell your friends.” 😊
So, there I was
literally for a few WEEKS
feeling just a little bit of SHAME
over my OWN “brand,”
feeling a bit stalled…
until it hit me:
I am PROUD of Women Who WOW.
REALLY proud.
There is no other community like us.
There are a PLETHORA of women’s groups,
but none like us.
You simply can NOT get anywhere else
what you get within the walls of WOW.
The NO B.S., hard hitting trainings,
the high drive peers,
the high touch mentoring,
the personal commitment,
the daily-ness of deliverables,
the responsive leader,
the HARD CORE mental muscle,
the raw and authentic hustle.
And so I got my head OUT of my behind…
so I could see CLEARLY again,
so I could SEE the demand for EXACTLY what my brand represents…
so I could see CLEARLY the next steps that are laid out before me…
so I could UNAPOLOGETICALLY capitalize on the opportunities landing in my lap!
How exactly did I get my head out of my behind???
Plain and simple:
I took my eyes OFF of “them”
and focused on MY business.
I allowed myself to feel the PRIDE of what I had built, I allowed myself to see the intricacies of what made me, ME…
and them…
NOT ME. lol..
As an entrepreneur… what are YOU most proud to offer your market? It’ s time to OWN it. It’s time for “them” to start watching YOU!
My text to my friend is in the image of this post and her response to me, “WOOHOO!”
Because she’s my business bestie, only wants the best for me and is always in my corner.
