The successful simply do not bow and kowtow to every (any???) rule, person, or suggestion. I certainly do not. Frankly, there’s a REASON that the official entrepreneur salute is a one-fingered salute.
I’m not sharing details PUBLICLY yet, but I’ve had reason to be in the hospital. Now, while the rest of the world is back to pre-viru$ living… hospitals have apparently enjoyed less visitors, less people to ask questions, etc. and — in my humble opinion — more control.
In addition to the stress of WHY we were in the hospital, I had to battle every single HOUR to be with my family. YES it was against “policy” but also YES, the written policy allowed for “exceptions.”
As EVERY SINGLE written policy does.
The thing was,
there were certain people in the hospital
who did not appreciate
NOR comprehend
that MY personal resolve has no bottom
and no end.
Not when it matters.
I had one mission,
which was to be where I NEEDED to be.
No policy or person could keep me from that mission.
Period.
And so I fought.
HARD and REPEATEDLY.
Against many different people and departments.
I will not lie, the fight WAS exhausting.
I will give them this:
They fought hard and persistently,
as did I.
They fought me longer and harder than I expected.
But the depth of MY resolve has no bottom,
not when the fight matters.
As I woke up this morning, I remembered this article I wrote years ago… pre-virus,
pre- ANY suggestions about
what we were “allowed” to buy, go, and wear in public,
you know…
“for our own safety.”
Sometimes,
defiance is a VIRTUE.
Please read the article in the comments below and let me know how EASILY you accept “NO.”
Because, it DOES matter…
when it matters.
To create the success you long for,
you may not fight the same battles as me,
you probably won’t,
but you WILL have to suit up and slay some dragons.
SOME will be more tenacious and more aggressive — with more staying power — than you expect.
BUT YOUR RESOLVE
to live life on your own terms,
to create the life you imagine,
to be ALL you came to be,
must have NO bottom, and NO end.
One more thing: I CAREFULLY pick my battles,
which is how I can stay in the fight
for as long as it takes to win.
