One of the most frustrating things for me to see is a woman entrepreneur not selling. Truly, it grieves me. Because why not? Why do all the other work of building a business and not sell? Why invest all the money in websites and software services and coaching… if you’re NOT going to sell? (Or if you’re not going to sell enough to make a $$ difference in your life?)
I know the answers vary.
Many think they MUST build a brand, an impressive following, a perfect website in order to EARN the right to sell… in order to be taken seriously.
False. Your brand is a BY-PRODUCT of you actually doing business… with PAYING clients or patients.
False. I wouldn’t advise it, but you can actually make a LOT of money without any website at all. I had a former client making nearly $1Mil a year FROM HOME with no website.
And False. You NEVER have to earn the right to sell. You were born with that right. You ONLY must earn the sale itself.
Many don’t sell because they are fearful of being judged by others as greedy or sales-y or whatever.
This is partly true. You WILL be judged. By someone. And sometimes by a group of someones. BUT … this is just life. You have to decide WHO you allow a “vote” into your behavior.
When you’re a TRULY driven woman,
outside judgement is just part of it.
Some of this judgement comes from us being misunderstood. But it can also come from jealousy, resentment, ignorance, whatever.
The Women Who WOW Way is this:
You’re going to be judged ANYWAY,
might as well give them context!
In other words, give them something to talk about.
Others don’t sell because they feel they don’t know how to sell without going into rote sales MODE… like a broken record. How do they keep it conversational and STILL get the sale?
This is true. You do need to learn how to make SELLING as beautiful, as natural, as easy going, as professional AS the actual product or service you deliver. There should not be TWO ‘yous’ in your business: The selling you and the other you.
So, let me get back to how I built this brand…. while focused ONLY on selling.
Look, I have no interest in bragging rights. None. So, I never set out to build a “brand.” I set out to build a business. And until my mortgage company and kids colleges accept attagirls, likes and “engagement” — in addition to CASH — I’ll KEEP focusing on sales.
I encourage you to do the same.
Because here’s the thing: SELLING is a generous process. It is INVITING people into a new experience.. with YOU. It is offering to help. It is creating the OPPORTUNITY for a professional exchange.
Sure, you could do it all for free and act like you don’t resent the hell out of it, but to what avail? Even the FREEBIE Seekers aren’t being well served by a quasi-professional-sorta-friendly-maybe-committed relationship with you.
If you solve a problem they have,
and you do…
they DESERVE more from you.
They DESERVE and NEED to be served by professional.

whom I could help.
My brand EMERGED naturally
as a result of me doing the work I’m here to do.
