**And why I maybe need to start betting on these things, lol… but mainly what it has to do with YOUR business and ultimate success.**
So, my husband is OFTEN the Fantasy Football champion in his league. DARE I SAY, it’s because of my input. Now, to be very clear… I know NEXT TO NOTHING about sports.
But I know a LOT about people,
about performance,
and about the predictability of people and performance.
This is why (a couple of nights ago)
when the Duke Basketball team
was down by 14 points with 4 minutes to go in the second half, I told Chris to hang on… that they were going to win.
This is why I knew beyond any shadow of any doubt that the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl.
Let’s focus on the Chiefs for a minute. If I were a betting woman (and I’m not) ALL of my chips would have gone to the Chiefs.
WHY???
Because of the story they have,
the story this team believes
about being behind.
You see, to the Chiefs — the comeback kids!! — there’s no negative story
about being behind in points mid-game…
or even late-game.
They don’t get into their heads about it.
In fact, I can’t be SURE, but it’s almost as if they REQUIRE a “From behind” position in order to propel their play into optimal performance.
Being behind is clearly a TRIGGER for them,
and a positive one.
It TRIGGERS their inner champion.
It’s like a fighter who allows a few punches early in the fight to figure out their opponent.
The punches are expected,
and so … they mean nothing.
The fighter doesn’t start to question
whether they’re ready,
whether they trained hard enough,
whether or not those early punches were some sort of PREDICTOR of future loss.
No, the punches are expected
and are received SIMPLY as information…
to be used and deployed towards ultimate victory.
BUT… other teams,
other competitors,
have NEGATIVE stories about being behind.
They get behind and think, “OMG!! There’s NO WAY I’ll catch back up!!” WHAT am I going to do now?
When you have a negative story about setbacks
or failure
or losing
or falling behind…
MOST PEOPLE start looking for exit signs.
They start backpedaling,
Playing it safe…
if that can be considered playing at all.
They may still be on the field,
but they’ve ALL but tapped out.
Because of the STORY associated with being behind.
The Chiefs had ONLY a positive story of being behind.
Duke Basketball has a code, a CREED to go all the way to the buzzer. They do NOT give up. UNC, not so much. I have seen them many times walking off the court before the buzzer. It’s only a second early, they reason. But it’s the CODE, the HABIT,
the COMMITMENT of going all the way
that matters.
Do you see what I’m talking about?
I don’t care about sports.
I get frustrated that my husband focuses SO MUCH on sports if I were, to be honest.
But I LOVE competition.
I LOVE seeing the human spirit come alive.
I love THAT.
You see, true champions have certain things
certain DEFAULT beliefs,
and behaviors
certain things they ALWAYS do,
and certain things they NEVER do
in common.
It’s THESE principles that are alive and well within the walls of Women Who WOW. THAT is how our 6-figure earning rate (amongst women entrepreneurs) is nearly 7 times higher than the national average. THAT is how our members keep taking new ground, keep setting and achieving new goals.
It isn’t that our members are superhuman,
and I’m CERTAINLY not.
It’s not that we don’t have LIFE stuff going on…
we do.
We have husbands
who are ornery, disabled, annoying… or leaving.
We have kids
who are needy , active or special needs?
We have hurts and hangups and limiting beliefs that crop up from time to time.
We have pasts littered with the evidence we CAN’T reach our goals.
But we also have each other.
EACH WOW member has me.
To re-acclimate them in moments of doubt,
to help right the ship when things feel topsy turvy,
to re-point them to their most important goal and purpose,
to re-frame the stories of being behind,
so that we don’t get stuck there…
to keep them in the game ALL THE WAY PAST the buzzer,
so that NO ONE quits before it’s done.
And in this way, we’re different than other memberships, than other groups. And if you are reading this, I SINCERELY want you to join us. Message me, tell me about you, and let’s talk.
