The entrepreneurial journey is not for the squeamish, the easily offended or the faint of heart. Our daily life requires courage… and creativity… and confidence… and GRIT. The ENDURANCE and TENACITY to keep going when mere mortals would have long ago quit.
Our work requires us to show up when it’s uncomfortable, when we feel weary or defeated or overwhelmed. Sound miserable?
Not to us.
Because this is growth. This is life.
Personal, spiritual, emotional growth.
Living.
Like going to the gym.
YES it gets hard sometimes.
YES you sweat in public… try a weight that is too much, but you gut your way through it ANYWAY… and soon enough, that weight you COULDN’T bear to lift is now your warm up weight.
YES, it hurts sometimes…
but it hurts SO good.
Not into weights?
Fine. YOGA… same thing.
That pose you couldn’t hold for longer than a pair of seconds… muscles shaking in way that you literally marvel over… (I mean, seriously…. this does NOT feel like it’d be THAT hard.)
Eventually…. you’re stretching into it… loving the stretch, and the strength.
Running… same thing.
Start out walk / running a mile and feeling like you’re going to vomit your heart out.
Eventually… you’re breezing through 3 miles… regularly.
BUT, this type of effort = growth can weigh on even the most driven of us from time to time.
And we look around our self-created empires and WONDER silently…. BARELY breathing it in… but still wondering,
When it will LOOK LIKE our original vision?
When will it REALLY “happen?”
In our DARKEST moments…
we may even allow ourselves to be UBER-human,
and we think…
“will it EVER happen?”
I am HERE to tell you YES it will happen. AS LONG AS you consistently build your vision (in consciousness and in action) EVERY SINGLE DAY.
This is a guaranteed certainty.
Like gravity.
What you build EVERY SINGLE DAY
will come to fruition.
Now, how LONG it will take?
THAT will depend on the following:
- how DIRECT and DELIBERATE you’re being with your actions;
- how EASILY you are distracted, deflated and discouraged;
and - how much EFFORT you’re willing to exert.
You see, business isn’t UNLIKE life or parenting or gardening or marriage or fitness or friendship. In fact, it’s EXACTLY the same as any or all of these things.
What you put in, is what you get out.
AND
When things AREN’T going well,
you have to change something.
Plain and simple.
If things are NOT going FAST enough…
if they are heading in the WRONG direction…
you MUST change something.
This business, is — after all — your baby, right?
Your creation,
your responsibility.
So, what can you do…. to get “there” faster?
🔑 You can take the STRUGGLE out of the EFFORT. A lot of Women Who WOW members “bristle” at the word hustle. In other words, they’re unwilling to embrace the “work hard and long” strategy for success.
And, this is brilliant.
The truth is, EFFORT is required.
STRUGGLE is not.
There’s a HUGE difference.
And a couple nuances.
When I was a kid, and — thankfully to a lesser degree now — My Dad was superhuman in his ability to work crazy long hours and go without sleep… all with a good attitude.
Why?
He NEVER viewed work,
even hard physical work,
as a STRUGGLE.
He didn’t add STRUGGLE into the mix.
He didn’t think about how hard the week was going to be, adding a bunch of emotion to it.
He simply showed up and did the work.
No dread.
No contemplating ways to put it off or get out of it.
JUST showing up,
and doing the work.
This is EFFORT without STRUGGLE.
And that makes all the difference.
TO GO DEEPER: Journal on this question: Where am I making my daily effort a struggle?
🔑 YOU CAN EMBRACE DISCOMFORT.
Remember, the zone of discomfort is where you learned to walk, talk, drive. Discomfort is the zone of growth. It is WHERE we become something we’re not (yet.)
To become more,
to make more money
to have more of an impact,
to create a new income stream…
ALL of these things will require a certain level of growth, and — therefore — initial discomfort. So, where are you SETTLING INTO a habit of being comfortable?
TO GO DEEPER: Journal on THIS question: Where am I denying myself the GROWTH of discomfort?
Guys… something is brewing.
I’m feeling a 10 day bootcamp of sorts being born.
An intensive 1:1,
let me PUSH YOU OUT OF THE NEST
program.
A “hurts so good” painful program,
designed to stretch your current reality so much that it is unrecognizable….
Stretching YOU,
Your ROUTINE,
Your excuses,
Your CIRCLE,
Your PRICING,
Your COURAGE.
You + me.
10 days.
Intense.
A shape-shifting experience.
if THIS appeals to you,
message me.
🔑 YOU CAN PLAY WITH TIMING.
One of the things I love about this class i take at my local YMCA is the “timing” play. We go fast and then slow. We go UP fast, and then DOWN slow.
These timing shifts challenge our muscles in a way that standard up / down reps will not and cannot.
Isn’t it curious to you how ROUTINE your timing is? Consider how long it takes you to lose 5 pounds? You have YOUR answer, based on your OWN standard, accepted timing.
Did you know my husband can lose 5 pounds
and often does
in a DAY? Yeah. I hate him for it too,
and he has the AUDACITY to moan and groan about it.
Other people take a full month OR MORE to lose 5 pounds.
Timing.
It CAN be fast or slow.
Both work.
Consider how long it takes you to write a blog post.
For me, that’s about 40 minutes TOPS. (for a long one, like this one)
For others, they’ll belabor a blog post for a week. I’m not even kidding. A full week.
Consider how long it takes you to create a program or fill a program or write a proposal or WHATEVER… and then,
play with the timing.
Deliberately speed it up.
Deliberately slow it down.
The TRUTH is that time doesn’t REALLY exist. =)
We CAN stretch time — or compress it — to meet our needs. This takes some practice but it’s absolutely possible and BEGINS with YOU playing with the timing you’ve allotted for various tasks in your every day life.
Dinner.
Exercise.
Sex.
Writing.
WHATEVER.
Stretch how long something takes one day.
Dramatically compress the time the next day.
Play with TIMING to see exactly how FAST you can create the life and business and body you really want!
And, of course, let me know how I can help you.
