Are you “not ready?”
Is the timing “bad” or even “not ideal?”
Can you “not afford it?”
Is the opportunity “inconvenient” for some other reason?
Would you have to — gasp — travel to say yes?
Do you have a lot “going on?”
Would you have to cancel a meeting to say yes?
Are you “focused” elsewhere?
I’ve just wrapped up marketing an event that is — frankly — unparalleled in potential. A career maker. A game changer. A “before / after” moment event.
One lady I literally BEGGED to come. =)
She had several excuses in the beginning.
Money. Previous Commitment. Not ready. Not confident. Not sure.
None were real of course…
despite how real they felt.
ALL were all justifications,
to protect the status quo,
but — I knew —
she was getting ready to blow “status quo” to smithereens.
OF COURSE she said YES.
Eventually… =)
because she knew that ALL were excuses.
And NONE served her own purpose, NONE served her own calling, NONE would help her push through to realize her own potential.
But, how did I know?
Because I’ve used ALL Of these excuses myself. OF COURSE.
Convincingly, I might add.
And for a long time.
I even found a way to make my own playing small look “wise” or “honorable.”
And my TOP regret….
Maybe — frankly — my ONLY regret…
is selling MYSELF short
with lame excuses…
after excuse…
after excuse…
justifying NOT taking A BIG LEAP….
for far too long.
Now, I recognize the excuses that are total bull feces. I can smell them from a world away… because I am INTIMATELY ACQUAINTED with them.
And here’s what I can say, as cliché as it is:
You will NEVER regret betting on yourself.
You will NEVER regret stepping into YOUR potential.
You will NEVER regret taking that extra swing.
Never.
But, you may…

regret EVERY swing you put off for a sunnier day,
