Despite the fact that algorithms are DEFINED as a process or set of rules you MUST FOLLOW to get a certain result… I actually have OTHER reasons to completely ignore Facebook algorithms, including:
🦊 We will NEVER “trick” Facebook into giving us what we really want by “breaking” the algorithms they created in the first place. HENCE, the need for new algorithms.
🦊 You are NOT here — on this earth — for the purpose of getting likes or attention on Facebook. It’s not your purpose and if you KNEW how LITTLE money some people with HUGE “followings,” you’d GASP. I was literally hit up once by a woman with 1M+ followers on instagram bcause she could not pay her rent. She sold “how to make money on instagram” programs. She messaged me on Facebook. I’ll let these little details settle in just a bit. (And no, she wasn’t hacked. I asked her.)
🦊 The algorithms always change — to meet the objectives of Zuck, not you — and I’m unwilling to chase them.
🦊 Comments do NOT mean connection, but it’s connection that brings the cash.
Without sounding too conceited, I’m a very smart woman. I’m not INTIMIDATED by their algorithms. I once hustled GOOGLE and won… as a “crash test dummy” project for my membership and — within 3 months — occupied THREE spots on page 1 for the term “women entrepreneurs.” (a general, non-location, non-specific, “hard to rank” term).
But — look — I refuse to ask you how you like your eggs unless I REALLY care how you like your eggs. (I don’t. Unless you’re over and I’m literally getting ready to make you some eggs.) I refuse to play their little game in hopes of comments or shares. I refuse to pursue EYEBALLS when what I REALLY want to attract is your heart.
So, how do you BEAT facebook’s algorithms games? How do you NEVER EVER EVER worry about being “shadow banned” again?
Be so good that your people come looking. Write with SUCH heart and conviction that your people MISS your message in their feed. You see, if you are depending on facebook to show your message to your market, you’ve missed the point.
You need your people logging in to facebook, and going FIRST to see what you’re saying today. I’m not sure you’ll ever go viral in this way.. but you can certainly grow income, impact and influence.
So, here’s the question to ask: How long would it take for your market to MISS you if Facebook stopped putting your content in “the feed?”
To beat facebook, you’ve got to SHOW UP IN A WAY that makes the answer: No more than a day.
