I’ve been conflicted over something.
I AM a mentor.
And I PAY to have access to my own mentors.
YET…
Increasingly, I am relying on my GUT to make business decisions. Like this morning…
Here I am and I just got inspired to journal on something… something I hadn’t done (that I remember) in more than a decade…. “WHAT IF I HAD TO 10X MY BUSINESS IN THE NEXT 3 MONTHS?”
The first time I was asked a variation of this question (“What if you had to DOUBLE your income in the next 3 months?”)
it was from a mentor that i paid $9k to work with him.
He asked me that question and my first response was this,
“Hold on. I need you to understand something. Doubling my income doesn’t even come CLOSE to what I need to do.” =) So, we went with 10 X it.
Today, I got a “hit” to revisit this question.
What if I HAD to 10X my income In the next 3 months?
What would I DO?
What would I do DAILY?
What would I change IMMEDIATELY?
And so… in just a moment, I’m going to do this exercise… I’m going to journal it out, sketch out a plan, and then… i’ll make it happen.
I always do.
But, here I am…
following INTUITION,
and it didn’t even OCCUR to me to ask for INSTRUCTION from a mentor.
So…. INTUITION vs. INSTRUCTION. =)
Of course, they are NOT mutually exclusive.
In fact, upon reflecting on this, I realize that I actually have created a (healthy & passionate) MARRIAGE of the two.
First, I have invested — and continue to invest — HEAVILY in being mentored. Officially and unofficially, in a group setting and in private. LIVE in person and via virtual relationships. So, I have received a ton of INSTRUCTION.
From others, I have learned some best practices.
I have gained awareness of WHERE to look for what I want.
I have benefited from their research and experience.
But then….
I marry it ALL.
With my own GUT and INTUITION…
with my own GRIT and personal experiences.
FIRST, I go to my gut.
I check in with my own intuition…
And THEN…
when it’s needed, I seek instruction.
So, the WHAT is usually intuition.
And then I get the HOW from instruction.
Is this making any sense at all?
It’s not either / or.
It’s BOTH / AND.
Intuition AND instruction.
Heart AND help.
Meditation AND Mentors.
Inner AND outer.

Instruction with no intuition will QUICKLY turn you into a stepford-preneur and you’ll look like
every.
one.
esle.
Yawn.
Intuition with no instruction may lead you to a spinning your wheels scenario.
(Been there.
Trust me.
it’s BEYOND FRUSTRATING.)
So, INVEST in both.
Invest in intuition by checking in with YOU.

If ____(insert specific goal)_____ was NON-NEGOTIABLE, what would I need to change immediately?
After you check in with YOU… consider where you may need to INVEST in instruction…. in the HOW?
