It’s no secret that actual engagement on a blog is becoming harder and harder to create and maintain. BUT, if you want more comments on your blog posts, more engagement, more conversation, I urge you to keep reading and also — think about which post OF YOURS deserves the most attention, so we can promote it for you in the comments below.
I was listening to a podcast with Darren Rouse yesterday and one of his suggestions really hit home for me…. and I realized that it PROBABLY applied to many of my clients and members as well. Here it is:
Is it possible that you’re such an amazing writer — and such a bonafide expert — that you’re shutting down comments on your blog? Is it possible that you’re giving so much in your blog post, that your content is actually choking out comments?
Now, this isn’t exactly what Rouse said, but it’s what he was referring to… giving so much content in your blog posts that “nothing else needs to be said.” When I look back at my MOST COMMENTED blog posts, I see that they were simple and DID leave a bit left unsaid. (Not always by design, of course.)
So, this week, I want to challenge you.
- Pick a blog post on your site. One that provides AMAZING — but not ABSOLUTELY COMPLETE — content.
- Add a question to the end of your blog post, no matter when the blog post was originally published. A question your commenters could answer.
- LINK to that blog post in the comments below. Give us a one-sentence description of the post, and link to it.
My promise is that I will go and comment on your post… to get the ball rolling. My HOPE is that you will ALL comment on each other’s posts, and we can really make a difference, and learn more about each other along the way!
As always, I’m ruthlessly committed to your bottom line….
xo
