MANY LOVE THE CONCEPT OF “LA LOBA”… OF THE WILD WOMAN, BUT UP CLOSE, THEY MAY NOT LIKE HER.
There are many stories — fairy tales — about La Loba, the wild woman, the wolf woman who sings over bones and brings them back to life. She lives in the wild and isn’t invited to coffee dates. There are many stories ABOUT her, few stories WITH her. And this is because the TRULY wild women — and there are many of us — aren’t always embraced in real life.
A man who has known me most of my life “warned” Chris about me. “You know you’ll never be able to tame her.” The thing is, Chris never even considered it. He wouldn’t WANT to tame me. He never has. He is DRAWN to the wildness in me and always has been.
Chris is a special case. 
Most people only like the TRULY WILD woman in stories…in fairy tales… in fantasy. In real life… the REAL “la lobas” are often anything BUT welcomed, applauded, celebrated.
As long as she’s stuck in a story… people are DRAWN to her wild side. They love her energy, her independent spirit, her courageous stand, her fearless heart.
But when you meet a wild woman in person, something changes. Her wildness, her lack of “civility,” her outrageous independence is — all of the sudden — offensive, off-putting. Her independence is outrageous… and the sheer audacity that she needs nothing from you seems nearly obtuse. Her audacious confidence is — all of the sudden — appalling… even if they can’t put into words “why.”
In a book or a movie, wild women are inspiring. But in REAL LIFE her drive and focus and INTENSITY… are “too much. ” Can’t she JUST be LESS?? Can’t she JUST tone it down?
And her complete lack of fear? Her utter disregard for the approval of others? Well, to be honest… all of it makes them suspicious. They are suspicious of her outrageous independence, they see her lack of fear is a lack of awareness, her lack of belonging as a lack of community, her wildness as a lack of culture.
But here’s the thing. I am such a wild woman and always have been. The reason I am such a loner is because I would not be tamed… But NOW… I am surrounded by wild women who are also called — from before the foundations of the earth were laid — to play a role in history, to play a role in feminism, and they know it.
The wild women.
The women that generation after generation deemed “too much” or “too loud” or “not proper.”
A precious few have literally howled with me on the beach. To you, you KNOW you have my heart. We are of the same pack. I am HONORED to run with you.
But many….
are called,
are BORN wild women,
AND
THEY
KNOW
IT…
But just when they see the moon and get a TASTE of the life they were called to… they keep walking — willingly — back into the cage of civility and expectation, escaping the accusations of “too much-ness,” escaping the judgement of so many, yes… but at what cost???
Besides, they can only play the role of the proper woman for so long. NO wild woman can ever be tamed. Not really.
A TRUE wild woman’s soul always HOWLS for freedom, for purpose, for impact, for influence…
It’s time to chase that howl,
to run so far and so fast from the cage
that you know you will NEVER make your way back.
Where are YOU being caged right now? What are you NOT saying? Where are you NOT stepping in to your REAL purpose? Where are you retreating to the safety of “them” thinking you’re normal? How long will you keep trying to pull THAT charade off, woman?
You KNOW you are different.
you KNOW you’re here to lead.
You KNOW you’re called to make an impact.
You KNOW the normal life, the maze of mediocrity is not for you.
When will you step into the FULLNESS of your purpose? When will you give up the pretense of being “normal?”
How long will you play coy with your purpose?
