There’s a little joke around my office that no one knows I’m privy to. The joke is about me and my tendency to “clean up” before clients come to visit. I’ve been known to haul out tons of trash, stash supplies in bins and hide them, and more when I have clients coming in town.
When everyone sees me break out the vacuum, take out the trash, etc… they know: Oh, Michelle must have an in-office appointment today. In rare, but desperate, times, I’ve given up and paid to rent the office BESIDE MINE for the day, using THAT office to meet with clients.
The office picture to my left is a messy office, but not mine. I’ve seen mine worse. But here’s the thing. Over the past several years I’ve been privileged enough to coach, consult with and collaborate with business owners at humbling levels of success. And you know what I found?
I’m not the only one who has a “fake office” to take clients into and a “real office” where the magic happens! I’m not alone!
Admittedly, this post goes a long way in making me feel better about my messy ways. =) But, that’s not why I’m revealing my little “office facade.” I say all of this to remind you:
Success is cooked up in a messy kitchen!
WILD success is created via sequential AND simultaneous action…. taken quickly.
Success requires a high tolerance…
For chaos.
If you want slow and steady, don’t invest another dime in your business… The self-bossing route isn’t for you! Cheers to my fellow messy mavens! Leave us alone… we’re cooking up something GREAT in here! Please share if you’ve been known to “tidy up” — hiding the chaos in your OWN business!
