No, I’m (actually) NOT “struggling to get my website to rank.” (As put to me in a cold email this morning.)
For an online business owner, this may seem outrageous or even… silly. (Stupid?) PLUS, I have played around with Google, even once beating them at their own game PUSHING myself to PAGE ONE results for the very general term “women entrepreneurs.” (This was back in the day of Google +, but still… I did it.)
AND I met with a very famous team about SEO. SHOULD I invest in something like this? was my thought. ISN’T this the next step?
BUT then it hit me.
To pay to “rank” means that STRANGERS (who I am not even really targeting) will find me when they type in certain terms.
THEN, if I’ve been a good girl and the Google gods like me, they’ll show these strangers my website, along with a TON of other competing websites.
THEN maybe they’ll click my site,
and maybe they’ll like what they see
and maybe they’ll keep reading
and then maybe — if I get all the words just right and catch the on the right day in the right mood — they’ll sign up for my email list
and then maybe
with enough finesse and suave
they’ll like me enough to buy a cheap product,
and if they like THAT,
then MAYBE they’ll…
ISn’t this what they teach us?
SEO. Rank. Be found. Be liked. Be followed. Be listed.
Look, I’m not saying there’s not validity in pleasing the SEO gods. 😊 I do quite a bit of the things that say to do…
Like get LINKS to my site, for just one example.
But here’s the deal.
I don’t do it for the “link juice.”
I don’t do it , write for, market for AN ALGORITHM.
I do it for the PERSON… i do it for the person reading that article and wanting to know more. I do it for the woman who wants to bet on herself, the one who DARES to dream, the one who is DETERMINED to win… her own way.
If that is you, message me. i want to talk. I want to invite you into Women Who WOW.
