I read an article this morning on boosting traffic. It was a detailed list of the “obvious” stuff, like use social media, have your own website domain, and use the YOAST SEO plug in.
Check.
Check.
Check.
And, you know…
duh…
But, REALLY,
the ONE thing people RARELY tell you…
Is that you’ve got to write stuff worth reading,
you’ve got to deliver content that engages, educates, entertains AND inspires. Because how many Facebook ads or Google ads do you really want to buy?
And if your content is “meh…” once the paid traffic LANDS on your site, well… you’d have been better off lighting that money on fire and hoping someone in your neighborhood took notice. Because that paid lead will amount to nothing.
You want MORE traffic?
More leads?
More people?
For the love of all things Holy,
create content that is WORTH THEIR TIME.
This is NOT about length, or grammar or spelling. It’s not about headlines or sub-headlines or font size or images. It’s about HEART.
No feeling in the writer (or speaker),
No feeling in the reader (or hearer or watcher.)
This is JUST how it goes.
So, if you want MORE traffic,
create content that LIGHTS YOU UP,
content that AWAKENS your soul,
content that generates an emotional response from YOU….
Anger,
Excitement,
Hope,
Incredulous,
Urgency,
Confidence,
Audacity.
Write from the HEART,
and watch your traffic not only INCREASE dramatically,
but also…
the STREAMS of traffic heading to your site, will be ALIGNED with your SOUL.
Anything else, and you’re just contributing to the noise. So throw out your templates, and your silly little “Post S in the comments if you want a Spa Day” or “Type W if you’re ready to lose the weight” posts….
and GIVE A LITTLE of your HEART to your market.
