🤮 No, I will NOT pay to play. Not 50 cents. Not $5000. Not $50,000. Not in your magazine, not on your podcast, not on your TV show, and not on your stage. It’s not about you… nothing about you at all.
THIS is a fundamental, already made decision, born WAY early in my business. I don’t care who you are, how much it costs, how much I like you, how famous you are (or aren’t) or about ANY OTHER variable. I will ALWAYS choose to be welcomed in on my merit OR pay to build my own stage. Either way, I assure you… I’m gonna keep on keeping on.
But, I will not pay to PRETEND I’m a guest, vs. an advertiser. I will not pay to PRETEND some publishing company published me, when it’s glorified self publishing. I won’t pay to win a contest. I won’t pay to be “guaranteed” a best seller status.
I will do all of this on my own,
OR I will not do it.
But I will NOT pay for an illusion of a thing.
And also, I literally WITHDREW an article that has been proposed AND accepted by Forbes… as soon as I saw that they were “screening” (lol…) for members of their Forbes Coaching Council. Just, YUK. I published on my OWN blog instead. Did it get less views? I am certain it did. But, It’s the #Principle.
And one more thing… I now look at your stage, your book, your podcast, your ‘show’ DIFFERENTLY. (And, what’s more: so does most EVERYONE else.)
🤮 Why do people do SUCH WIERD stuff around sales? Like, pop up in my inbox with a “Hey Hun! Can I ask you a question?” WHAT?
My exact response: No. Who calls strangers by the name “hun?”
Hey HUN?! What?! Hun?
Reminds me of the fat redneck (NOT, in this case, used as a term of endearment) who would say, “Come ‘ere, girl.” to get my attention on that ONE night I cocktailed in college.
(I sincerely HOPE it goes without saying that he went home SOBER, due to my inability to hear or see him… ever.)
OR… different side of same coin…
Why do people respond to sales requests in some really weird way??? EXAMPLE:
- Personalized, applied version (asked of someone you know, NO cold calling here) of this basic question: “Do you want to join this program?”
- Thumbs up emoji + “Great hair, GIRRRRL!”
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HELL? lol… This is just plain WEIRD. Or am I the only one? Maybe it’s just me?

Scratch that,
People who CALL themselves entrepreneurs… who ask WHERE they can GET MONEY to join a business program or to grow their business.
Literally… scratching their heads,
wringing their hands
in hopes of finding the magic answer.
Ummm….
I hate to be Captain Obvious here,
but,
you know,
you could SELL something.
I mean, HOW ELSE does an entrepreneur get paid?
Is there some other way I’ve not heard of?
And — WAY MORE FRIGHTENING — HOW have you been being COACHED by someone who is NEVER pointing out that you’re not SELLING anything? Like, EVER? HOW does that NEVER come up in a business event, program, “school” or coaching relationship?
How indeed…. smh.
