(A long rant and My personal list of 23 lead generation activities.)
I love it when people tell me they’re doing “EVERYTHING I’M DOING” but it’s not working.
Everything, huh?
You’re doing EVERYTHING I’m doing?!
And you’re doing it EVERY (single) DAY?
Day in and day out?
(No. NO is ALWAYS the answer. But I go on…)
FOR HOW LONG?
A whole week?
A whole MONTH?
A whole year?
To be fair, I’ve been at this for NEARLY 20 years. Now, I had many mediocre years… years of severely limiting beliefs, years of following the wrong system, believing the wrong people, etc. and YOUR success should not take even a fraction of that time.
BUT, the fact remains,
I’ve been a CONSTANT player in this arena
— where many come and go,
shine and then shrink —
for DECADES.
I’ve never gone away.
I’ve never changed costumes.
I’ve never taken a hiatus.
I came.
I saw.
I planted my flag.
And I STAYED.
Even when it was tough,
even when it was discouraging,
even when I was failing,
even when I was having to give myself pep talks in the mirror,
even when I didn’t feel like it.
And — I’ll be very honest —
there are a VERY precious few who can say the same…
but that’s not REALLY my point.
Sloth is an abhorrent characteristic in my book.
People often ask me how I “GET” my kids to work?
WHAT???
I can’t imagine —
literally can not IMAGINE —
having a conversation with one of my children about why they should work… or convincing them, or “getting” them to work.
They work because they are humans of a certain age. (In my home, this age is 15.)
They work because you will learn MORE from serving the public than they can EVER teach you in a classroom.
They work because sloth is an intolerable infraction.
It is — honestly — not even a discussion,
never a point of contention,
never a debate.
Not here, at least.
Anyway, in marketing, I see a WHOLE LOT of sloth.
Only, it’s not recognized as such…
because as entrepreneurs we’re doing SO MUCH “stuff,”
the term SLOTH is the furthest thing from our minds.
But, when it comes to MARKETING,
we’re missing it.
We need more leads…
more people coming to us,
knocking on our door,
saying, “HEY — can we talk more about what you do?”
People come to me OFTEN about this problem of not enough leads… and so I ask to see their LIST of lead generation techniques.

What are you DOING to generate the leads you want?
Spoiler Alert: NO ONE EVER pulls out a list. EVER.
I — of course — have a list.
A printed list of lead generation activities I do…
day in and day out.
Why would I not?
Lead generation is MY CORE JOB here.
Without leads, my business will dry up. (And so will yours.)
But most people?
Yeah… No list.
Instead… I get a fumbling, cobbled together list of things they’ve “tried.” They’ll tell me about an ad they bought, or an event they sponsored, or a social media platform they’re on.
WHAT? I have (currently) 23 lead generation tactics I do EVERY SINGLE MONTH without fail. 23 DIFFERENT ways to get the attention of people I can help, done ON REPEAT.
