Nichole MacDonald says she started her product, The Sash Bag, because she knew that she could. She was done working really hard helping other people make money. She knew she had a really creative approach to product development and felt her skills were being wasted on helping businesses that she wasn’t passionate about grow their bottom line. I couldn’t agree more!
The Sash Bag was an immediate hit with Women Who WOW members. Two were already Sash Bag owners and were THRILLED to get another “sash,” which’d they’d grown to love! Nichole’s biggest lesson in business? To trust her instincts and to NOT strive for perfection. Follow her growing success story here:

As a mother of two teenage girls, I was IMMEDIATELY taken in by Ripple Safety‘s product, which you can learn more about here.
Rees Gillespie was inspired to create Ripple Safety after he received a call from his mother, a long-time real estate agent, telling him she was on her way to show a house. Rees’ mom gave him the listing address and told him if he didn’t hear from her in 20-minutes, something was wrong. Inspired by wanting to ensure everyone has instant access to a safety network that can be utilized anytime, anywhere, Rees set out to create a trusted safety service that empowers users to live their lives knowing safety experts always have their back. Enter: Ripple.
The biggest lesson Rees has learned is that there are always challenges when creating something new. He says,“We don’t expect the challenges ever to stop, but as the road progressed, the difficulties took different forms. Initially, it was raising money, then became a developmental challenge of creating a product and service that didn’t exist before, later it became a challenge to execute, and now that we have launched, our challenge is scaling and delivering a truly unmatched service 24-hours a day 7 days a week.”

Hugh Miskel is the founder of two amazing products, both on our “favorite things list.” First, Floor Register Traps, which I admit I didn’t immediately “get.” But, our Women Who WOW members? They saw the simple brilliance of this product right away! What prompted Hugh to create the floor register traps is his daughter. She dropped a box of crayons and half of them went into the register and duct work.
After doing my research he did not find anything on the market like the Floor Register Trap, so he developed a design and patented it. Because of Hugh’s home improvement industry background, he was quickly able to find a manufacturing partner.
The biggest lesson Hugh learned with the Floor Register Trap is that quality control is critical. Especially if you are not the actual manufacturer. You really need to have reliable partners who have quality control programs throughout the manufacturing process so you don’t waste time, money and resources. This includes everything from paying attention to the fine details from packaging content and design to actual packaging materials.
But Miskel’s work doesn’t end with just one product. He’s also the creator of the BEST socks EVER, which was born during a trip to the Caribbean when he purchased a T-shirt made out of Bamboo fabric. The bamboo material — cool and comfortable — stuck with him for a couple of years until he found a pair of Bamboo socks. That is when Bamboo fabric really had its biggest impact on him. Hugh would wear the t-shirt once a month, but the socks are something he would wear every day. They were so comfortable he decided to start his own Bamboo apparel company called BambuLife and start with socks.
I can attest to the fact that these are the softest, comfy-est, coolest socks on the market! I love them… and so does Chris!
The biggest lesson Hugh has learned with BambuLife is that It takes more than a good product to succeed…. especially in a crowded retail space. “You need marketing resources to get the word out to consumers.”
