My Granny (my Memaw’s mom) taught me how to crochet when I was around 8 or 9 years old. I never TRULY mastered it…. but can (and have) crocheted things like a pot holder or a small blanket. So, when Tiffany Banuelos, of Rustic Sprout, came in as a sponsor for our December event with crocheted headbands, I was so excited! Her headbands — handmade with care — were a huge hit… first with Randi and myself. And then, with ALL of WOW.
Btw, I love this picture of Randi — pre-baby Mason — with her headband.
Tiffany’s company is a rare find. Born of family values and passion. Built with commitment and hustle. Here’s why Rustic Sprout was born:
Our family lives a green and natural lifestyle. We also spend a lot of time crafting and being as homemade as possible. When I began making some headbands as Christmas gifts a few years back, I would crochet on the go. Everyone who watched me creating headbands told me they wanted one too. I decided I could share them with others, while keeping true to my green side. I began Rustic Sprout to focus on my crocheted natural fiber headbands and ear warmers.
Of course, Tiffany soon learned as much about business as she knew about being a green family. She offers this advice to Women who WOW:
When it comes to handcrafted goods, you might go into it with certain ideas on what you will create. Sometimes the customers will dictate changes to your plans. Go with the flow and blend your ideas with what the people want and you get a winning mix. Bottom line: Always listen to your customers!
