(AND VOW YOU’LL STOP DOING THE MOMENT YOU’RE BIG ENOUGH, RICH ENOUGH, FAMOUS ENOUGH, KNOWN ENOUGH)
I’ll never forget the conversation I had years ago with an HR client. She wanted me to build an MLM business, which would have been built around home parties which took place in the evenings.
You know, I’d be with the kids during the day and then leave my Mister to make some money at night.
It was a no. =)
But the part I’ll never forget was her rationale. She said, “If you just do this for a few years, you can stop.”
The woman is actually quite brilliant and successful. I just don’t believe in that logic.
Instead I believe that the way you GROW something is the way it will GO.
So, when I consult with women entrepreneurs about what they should be doing online, I’ll often ask them,
- Would the “ULTIMATE” you do that?
- Would the 12-months-from-now you do that?
- Would the YOU you’re trying to become in your industry… would SHE do that?
Often times, it’s a big fat honking NO.
No, if you were where you REALLY wanted to be in your business, you would NOT take on that needy, PITA client.
No, if you were known and in demand the way you DESERVE to be, you would NOT discount your prices to land that client.
No, if you were occupying the TOP INDUSTRY LEADER role in your business right now, you wouldn’t be popping into facebook groups to share your links every day.
No, if you were — TODAY — the you that you’re actively becoming in your business you would NOT chase people down and beg for their business… you would not follow up until your blue in the face… you would not sell your SOUL to make a buck.
NO, no and NO.
You’d stand up,
shine brightly,
message clearly…
and allow clients or patients or customers to come to you when they are READY for the BEST that you have to offer.
To GET there,
at the helm of your own empire,
leading the way,
and serving others out of YOUR area of giftedness…
To CREATE this level of positioning,
you must align TODAY’s actions
with tomorrow’s goal.
This means you don’t do a bunch of crap TODAY that you KNOW you won’t do when you’re rich enough or famous enough or known enough. To GET there, you must BE (in word and action) that person TODAY.
