I remember when I dreaded someone telling me NO…. declining my proposal, rejecting my offer, deciding not to work with me.
Today, not so much.
I sell Women Who WOW membership. I see bad ass women on line…
or those who I THINK are bad ass women entrepreneurs,
and I invite them to SAY YES to Women Who WOW.
I do this with SUCH excitement.
Women Who WOW
(mainly the women who are members)
is my MOST PROUD accomplishment.
But I also do this with NO expectation….
because people ALWAYS self-select, CORRECTLY.
The right people ALWAYS say YES.
And those that aren’t right for WOW…
ALWAYS opt out.
My former coach Steve Chandler once told me to collect NOs like a bouquet of roses. =) I didn’t QUITE understand it back then. But….
Yesterday, I looked at my “retention rate,” looking for how many of my members stay with me, year after year.
At this point, it is 87%…
a rate that MOST people would think NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to maintain.
But Women Who WOW is different.
The women who find us, know they are ONE of us.
Immediately.
Those who are invited in,
come in with expectation …
and a BURNING desire to create WILD success…
to impact MANY lives, homes, bodies, businesses….
to be INFLUENTIAL,
to use their business as a force for good.
And they are DRIVEN to succeed.
No plan Bs in the group.
No waffling.
No jumping ship.
No excuses.
No pretense.
No judgement.
So, here I am looking at my retention rate…. and my bouquet of members….
And IGNORING my bouquet of NOs. So, I decided to take a look. I decided to PERUSE through those who joined “once upon a time” and then chose to leave us…
Over the years, there have been a few that I “lost” and I was REALLY puzzled by their walking away. Until yesterday.
Because those (now) OUTSIDE of WOW have A TON in common with each other.
And — honestly — WAY more in common with each other than they have with their former Women Who WOW sisters. I found that NEARLY ALL… with only FOUR exceptions:
- had taken on a W-2 job and were not able to work their business full time; and / or
- couldn’t decide WHAT business to be in, so they’ve changed focus and titles and target markets many, many times; and / or
- always felt TOO BUSY to work ON growing their business.
They self-selected.
CORRECTLY.
I love them,
and I wish them well…
But they DID self-select correctly.
If they were in a room together —
these former WOW members —
Truth be told, they may NOT be impressed with each other,
They may INITIALLY look around and think they are in the WRONG room, lol…
but they would find that they have a LOT more in common than they think…. A lot more in common (with each other) than I initially thought.
So, KEEP asking.
Those who FIT will say yes… the RIGHT decision for them.
They’ll show up, participate, add AND receive value.
Those who DON’T say YES,
are ALSO making the RIGHT decision for them…
and also for you and your business as well.
Now I know what Steve meant about collecting NOs like a bouquet of roses. Take a look at them. Marvel over them, even.
And then… when they’ve dried and rotted.
Throw them out…
But keep collecting.
Our NOs will tell us more
than ANY yes.
