Not long ago one of our Women Who WOW members went to an event, where she had a vendor booth. Her product was a PERFECT fit for the plenty-large-enough audience. So, of course, when she gets back I ask her,
“So, how many [packages] did you sell?”
Zero.
Now, if she’d said ONE or TWO…
I still would have been disappointed, lol…
But I would have asked questions about vendor table placement, how the vendors were announced from the main stage, if the attendees were encouraged to visit with vendors… or about her sales script, about follow up, etc.
Instead, the answer was zero.
So, I had but ONE question.
DID YOU ASK ANYONE TO BUY?
The answer, of course, was AN “I’m CAUGHT” look plus an honest NO. We had a good laugh and got back on track.
But, HOW DID I KNOW?
Because there are certain fundamentals in business that are simple and finite. Business SUCCESS requires that you:
- have a steady stream of new prospects coming to you for the problem you solve;
- are willing to invite them to buy;
- repeat, repeat, repeat.
Technology hasn’t changed this.
Social Media hasn’t changed this.
Blogging hasn’t changed this.
Podcasting hasn’t changed this.
Major media hasn’t changed this.
IGTV, YouTube, none of these things
CHANGES the fundamentals of business.
You MUST be willing to be VISIBLE,
be HELPFUL and
be willing to sell, on repeat.
Now, technology can help you LEVERAGE your expertise, it can help you be MORE visible. But you STILL must ask people to buy.
