As I age, wait… That’s really more B.S. Let me shoot straight. As my CHILDREN age =) further and further into their teenage years, I’m becoming increasingly intolerant of excuse making. Yuck.
In this quick post, I’m going to reveal the #1 Bullcrap excuse about your lack of success. Brace yourself.
Is it the famous, “the economy is bad” excuse?
Even the harshest desert has cacti producing life-saving water. The same is true for economies. Even in the Great Depression SOME businesses prospered and created great wealth. If ONE can create success, anyone can. So, is this B.S.? Yes. But it’s not the #1 B.S. excuse.
Is it the frustrating “my market is cheap” excuse?
I do hate this one, especially when it’s true. I began my coaching business marketing to a cheap market. But, do you know who chose that market? Me. Do you know who pursued that market? Me. Finally, I chose another market. I rolled out the red carpet for those who were willing to pay, willing to invest, willing to hustle. Guess what happened? All the cheap-os began to feel unwelcome. =) So, this isn’t the #1 B.S. excuse.
Is it the heart breaking “I’ve done all I can do and still nothing is working” excuse?
I hate this one too. But, just because you’ve done all you KNOW to do doesn’t mean you’ve done all you CAN do. If even ONE person is thriving doing what you want to do in your business, so can you. You’ll have to invest in more sophisticated help to get you where you couldn’t get alone. There is ALWAYS something that can be done. By you. Today. So, while this is B.S., it’s not the #1 shovel of B.S. regarding the results in your business. Here’s #1:
The #1 BullCrap Excuse About Your Lack of Success is ANY Excuse that Doesn’t Directly Make You The Problem.
So it doesn’t matter if you’re still blaming your parents, the economy, Obama, your market, the tight credit guidelines, your lack of capital or anything else. If you are not taking full responsibility, you’re shoveling grade A B.S. down your own throat. So, woman up. Or man up. And stop making excuses. As long as YOU are the problem, YOU are free to be the solution. As long as ANYTHING or ANYONE else is the problem, your hands are tied and you’ll be stuck in victim mode.
Not pretty. But most of all, not profitable.
So be the problem. Blame yourself. And then fix it.
No excuses. Just results. Who’s with me?
