Admittedly, I’m fortunate. I grew up in a home in which I was reminded NEAR DAILY that I was special, that God didn’t make any junk, and that I was WORTHY of love, attention, care, protection, etc.
I have certainly been in situations in which my own inherent worthiness wasn’t recognized BY OTHERS, š but I have NEVER questioned my own worthiness or worth, because of this conditioning.
And if I could change only ONE thing for women entrepreneurs, it would be that they learn to OWN their own worth, the worth of their core WORK. Because this issue of worthiness is plaguing the world of women, and shows up in the entrepreneurial world in painful ways that hold so many back for so long.
Imagine THIS scenario for a minute. To make it easier, we won’t tell a story about YOU… we’ll tell a story about HER. We’ll call “her” Mary.
Mary is smart. Driven. She goes out of her way to help so many people. And she is DAAAAMMMM good at what she does. At her core she’s near magic at identifying the missing component of whatever sales page she’s reading.
The questions she asks naturally help clarify your market and offer. So, when you finally look at the sales page together, it’s almost like Mary simply UNVEILS the “obvious” pieces that need to be fixed / changed / shifted. And while it may have only taken Mary 45 minutes to do all of this, she LOVES it and it makes a HUGE difference in the business of her clients. They report tripling their revenue or ten times-ing their sales.
And OF COURSE Mary charges for this service. She even charges strong fees, but she wants to charge more.
So, OF COURSE… she decides to get certified — again — but this time it’s a “digital marketing certification,” taught by someone who, frankly, should hire her.
While enduring the drudgery of another certification, she’s also revamping her brand… again.
She’s always been known as The Sales Shop,
but maybe she’ll call herself The Sales Letter Alchemist…. and she’ll rebrand around the notion of Alchemy.
While she doesn’t love the technology of sales funnels (her magic is with words) she decides that she should COMBINE her sales page alchemy with a funnel building service. THAT, she reasons, will allow her to raise her fees.
PLUS, with the re-brand, she’ll put all of her proposals into FancyPants software, and record a video of how important the written word is for increasing sales.
As you’re reading this, you may be thinking… Mary’s not such a bad example. These are all VERY reasonable ways to grow your business and raise your fees. And I would agree.
You see, I’ve worked with Mary.
I helped her come up with some of these things. š
It’s not that they’re BAD.
BUT, when you don’t allow YOUR WORK
to take CENTER STAGE,
when you don’t allow it to stand on its own,
when you question the INHERENT worth of your magic,
if you ALWAYS must dress it up,
fancy it up…
schedule-wise and income-wise
your MAGIC will be upstaged…
drowned out…
over time.
BUT, what if Mary just OWNED it
and let her WORK
stand alone?
What if she simply raised her fees
and chose NOT to layer all of these things
ON TOP of her core magic…
What if she just stood in her own worth,
owning the difference she made…
and spent more time doing more sales page alchemy sessions
and less time fancying it all up?
I’ll tell you what:
MORE people would be drawn to her,
she’d do MORE of what she wanted,
spend less time doing drudgery work,
and LOVE her business with every fiber of her being.
She may STILL call herself the Sales Letter Alchemist. I hope she does. But she’d need NOTHING other than her own magic to charge what she wants and build a business of her dreams. She’d allow her work to stand alone,
NAKED in all of its glory…
and her — along side it — proud, worthy,
and paid. š
I’d love to help you identify YOUR magic…
so it can stand proud and naked
In a marketplace that rewards such boldness.
