Admittedly, once upon a time, I suffered from a severe speed issue when driving. The state called it “reckless.” They came after my driver’s license once or twice because of my lead foot.
In response, I took driving classes,
prescribed (demanded) by the courts,
as IF the driving classes could possibly take away my penchant for speed,
or my competitive drive to beat my “best time” on a trip.
Anyway, I grew out of it…
mostly.
You’ll still find me sometimes yelling at another driver,
Usually a tourist…
“HEY– the gas pedal is the one on the right!”
Because, you know,
they clearly forgot….
or fell asleep,
or SOMETHING
in order to drive THAT slow.
When I’m running with my Peloton Digital app, the running coach often says, “Forward is a pace.”
And that’s TRUE.
Forward will always get you there.
But do you know what ISN’T a pace?
This stop / go / pause / ponder / start to go / wait thing I see going on….
THAT stop / go shit isn’t a pace. It’s a TRAP.
And if you’re in it,
you will CLEARLY see that your entrepreneurial journey
has been marked — and marred —
by the whole stop / go / pause / ponder / regroup thing you have going on.
If you’re in THAT trap,
and are honest with yourself,
you’ll note that from the beginning,
you’ve had a pattern of …
getting excited and encouraged,
going all in,
hitting a snag,
not seeing the money come in as you’d like,
followed by a pity party,
— as well as a good deal of blaming the coach who inspired the excitement and encouragement that got you moving in the first place —
followed by…
a bit of personal withdrawal.
Goals fading into the distance,
emotions taking center stage.
Now, you still showed up,
kept up appearances online,
made plans,
etc…
But as for continued investment (money or otherwise)
and RISK?
Well, that stopped,
as you nurse your ego wounds…
until you find a NEW coach or guru who gets you excited and encouraged again…
and the process starts over.
(This is why when someone has been through a TON of coaches, I don’t go out of my way to bring them into the world of WOW.) =)
Here’s the thing.
you’re going to hit snags,
you’re going to have ideas that don’t sell,
you’re going to have moments when you feel utterly DEJECTED,
you’re going to have times when you feel your resolve being stretched beyond what’s reasonable.
YES we feel them.
YES, they suck.
YES, we wish it wasn’t the case.
YES, we fantasize about the straight, narrow, easy, clear, obstacle free success route.
But we don’t expect it.
We don’t stamp our little feet and demand it.
And we CERTAINLY don’t wait for it.
We keep going
always
and
regardless.
the key, my friend,
is to remember…
THE GAS PEDAL IS THE ONE ON THE RIGHT.
KEEP GOING.
MANY of your competitors are going to be trapped,
and delayed (some permanently)
by their emotions.
Not you.
Not us.
Women who WOW is full of women like you who are here to show OTHERS what’s possible. =) So, let’s do this thing.
