Here’s a little secret about me, which — fair warning — will sound INCREDIBLY egotistical (and worse) at first. But, if you’ll stay with me, I promise it will make a DEEP and LASTING impact on
✅ how you see yourself,
✅ how you see your “heroes” and gurus, and
✅ how you show up here, there and everywhere from now on.
Here’s the secret:
I have NEVER (ever)
thought that someone (anyone) was
SMARTER than me,
BETTER than me,
or MORE CAPABLE than me.
Ever.
This is something I’ve never said out loud, and now I’m guessing you know why. =) It sounds egotistical if not narcissistic or even…. delusional?
I’m IMMUNE to criticism,
so think what you must,
but — please —
Stay with me.
When I welcomed Gary V to my stage…
when I spoke immediately after Suze Orman at a HUGE event,
when I laughed and talked $hit with Daymond John (and his body guard, who was hilarious) last year in California…
I paid them ZERO homage. None.
I paid them NO more attention or respect
than I pay anyone else.
I didn’t fawn over myself.
I didn’t put them on a pedestal.
I didn’t follow their stupid rules.
LOOK —
I KNOW who these people are,
who they were,
and how far “ahead” of the game they are.
I WAS
and AM
duly impressed.
I get it. I watch them.
I learn from them.
But,
fun fact about Michelle #5237:
I pay homage to NO man — or woman.
Ever.
I have this inherent KNOWING
that they put on their pants just like me.
I have this unwavering FAITH and BELIEF
that they were conceived and created
just like me.
I am governed by this irrefutable, faith-based
truth that we are ALL
fearfully and wonderfully made.
And not just fearfully and wonderfully made,
but fearfully and wonderfully made
IN THE IMAGE of the Creator of the world.
I wonder how many people
even those who consider themselves “believers”
REALLY grasp this…
Did you read that?
I am governed by this irrefutable, faith-based
truth that we are ALL
fearfully and wonderfully made
IN THE IMAGE of the Creator of the world,
in the image of the One who tells the ocean it can come this far,
and no farther,
in the image of the One who spoke the world into existence,
in the image of the One who takes joy in painting the sky for us in new colors each morning and evening…
So, NO.
I don’t see ANY one as better than me,
or more able than me.
I see us as DIFFERENT, but EQUALLY
fearfully and wonderfully made.
And HERE is where the real magic is:
I believe this,
so when I see someone else succeeding
WILDLY,
and I mean OUTRAGEOUS success…
I don’t see them as DIFFERENT than me,
or somehow BETTER suited for success.
I don’t see them as SUPER HUMAN.
I don’t see them as LUCKY.
I see THEIR success as possible for them,
and — as a direct result —
possible for me.
Also, there’s more magic:
BECAUSE of this belief,
BECAUSE I don’t believe they’re super human
or somehow CREATED better or smarter or whatever,
I can EASILY identify what they do,
I can EASILY see what the actions they are taking
(that I am not — yet)
and remedy this.
In this way,
I can align my ACTIONS and BEHAVIORS
with those of giants.
In THIS way,
I have no problem saying,
I will join them.
Because BEHAVIORAL congruency
equals
RESULTS congruency.
So, over to you…
