While she and I weren’t a fit for reasons I won’t disclose — and now knowing that she chose a cutesy, local-to-her social media “expert” to advise her on high level, more corporate content — I was inspired to share this post.

When you start to put the system,

IN FRONT OF YOUR MESSAGE…
you are creating distance.
You are moving FURTHER AWAY From connection.
Now, if your hope is to be an internet marketing “success,” WHICH — look and see if this isn’t ACTUALLY what they are teaching, although not in these words — demands you work long and hard and pay for ads to accumulate a HUGE email list so that you can make great money off of some PALTRY 3% conversation rate… keep doing what you’re doing.
BUT, I have a relatively small email list.
And I make more money online (bottom line money: after they pay their affiliates and their INSANE ad budget!) than MOST of those who are on your radar as “people to emulate.”
Why? I use CONTENT to CONNECT.

When I began in this industry, there were a precious few examples to look at.
I was just a girl and her computer,
a woman and her message.
I had passion and the need for money.
I had expertise and a willingness to sell.

But my APPROACH stayed the same.
Message from the heart.
Invite people into conversation.
Show them what’s next.

BUT… so many people are actually TEACHING strategies that remove the most important ingredient of CONTENT ALCHEMY — turning content into cash —
CONNECTION.
Instead, they’re selling software that lets you pretend to be “there.” WHY??? Why not just show up? Or admit when it’s a replay? They’re selling software that actually MIMICS a crowd. WHAT??? Fake comments? Fake likes? FAKE automated conversation?
They’re selling TEMPLATES for your funnel, word for word templates that someone else wrote for some other audience with some OTHER relationship to the expert, in some other industry or niche… and encouraging you to SPEND MONEY to drive traffic to a “proven” formula.
Proven for WHO? Proven under what circumstances? Proven to work at WHAT conversion rate? (This matters because if they got a 10% conversation rate— which they did not, it was probably much lower — but off of a list of 100,000 people… and YOU have a list of 1500 people, you’ll LOSE money on this deal.
