Businesses have always benefitted from an owner’s innate sense of urgency — a desire to achieve RIGHT NOW. But, this month… this year…. I’ve seen URGENCY as a major trend in my clients; as well as other business owners I meet when speaking. It’s what’s propelling business owners forward, and it’s what’s behind some major gains I’m seeing for my clients.
Of course, there will always be business owners content to “wait.” I see some who are waiting for kids to grow up. (They don’t yet know that kids require more and more time as they go from toddler hood to tween-agers! lol… ) Others are waiting to pay down debt. Still others are just waiting — for the sake of waiting. They’ll “launch” or “grow” one day. They’ll leverage their time and get away from the trading dollars for hours ONE DAY. They’ll do something different ONE DAY. They’ll revisit this goal, ONE DAY.
Frankly, these “professional waiters” aren’t my target market. Their pace and unwillingness to be uncomfortable speak to their overall commitment. Frankly, even when these “waiters” come back around and are “ready,” I always refer them out — to solid coaches who are more tolerant and accepting of this “ONE DAY” approach. =)
I learned early on that TODAY is the only day I’m truly guaranteed! And when I embraced the fact that my BIG GOALS are either achieved or abandoned by the SMALL stuff I do each and every day, well — “magical” things happened.
Urgency + Consistency = Wild Success
That’s why I LOVE seeing the urgency bubbling up in today’s entrepreneurial community. For many reasons, there seems to be MORE urgency than I ever remember seeing before, and it is INDEED fueling wild success.
