Our human tendency towards complicating things amazes me. And, frankly… it hasn’t served us.
The more health experts we have, the more complicated the health “rules” get, and the LESS healthy we get as people. The more business gurus we have, the harder business seems to get. …
Bottom line:
complicated is always the WRONG direction; and
SIMPLE is always the way to go.
So, at the risk of being ridiculed for my simple success “codes,” here they are… in all their un-fancy glory. Before you judge, consider the fact that they work. They work for me. And they work for everyone else who DARES to simplify their business and apply them consistently.
Notes: These are all critically important.
One is NOT more important than another.
They all work together.
They are listed in NO particular order.
✅ # 1. Get Your Heart in the Game.
Anything you are doing with DREAD,
regardless of how consistently you are doing it,
is serving as a heavy weight for your business….
a burden,
an anchor,
NOT a set of wings.
While there is ALWAYS something you can do,
there is never ANYTHING you absolutely MUST do.
Do you hate one part of marketing?
or one platform on social media?
Do you dread one way of selling?
or one place at which you are always showing up?
No sweat.
There is ALWAYS an alternative.
Get your heart into your work.
Make your marketing and selling as beautiful,
as result-oriented
as the actual work you do.
Find something you LOVE,
and turn it into your marketing engine.
The market — yours and mine —
responds to desire, drive, and an energy that says,
I LOVE THIS STUFF.
✅ # 2. Be VERY Suspicious of “In Order To” Goals.
If you are pursuing something
— NOT because you love it,
NOT because you enjoy it,
and NOT because you have any particular attachment to it—
but because you feel you must pursue step A “in order to” be able to qualify to pursue step B…
STOP!
There is no moral or ethical obligation to climb the ladder of success in some orderly, pre-ordained step by step process.
Don’t write the book in order to get speaking gigs.
Just go get speaking gigs.
Don’t get certified “in order to” get clients.
Just go get clients.
Don’t wait for everything to be perfect in order to sell whatever it is you sell. Just sell it!
Don’t DELAY the achievement of your ULTIMATE goals by futzing around with a slew of “in order to” goals.
This is — plain and simple — a stall tactic.
Go after what you REALLY Want.
Leapfrog to the top.
You’re ready.
✅ # 3. Actually Ask Them to Buy.
It may SEEM obvious, but there is a LOT of hinting and schmoozing and networking and presenting and posting and sharing in the world of women entrepreneurs, but far too little ACTUAL selling.
Make sure you are actually ASKING them to buy. Presenting your stuff, or MENTIONING what you do or even EXPLAINING what you do is not selling. Ask them to buy from you, work with you, attend your event.
If you don’t ask, the answer is NOT a maybe.
It is ALWAYS a no.
✅ # 4. Earn the SALE, not the RIGHT to sell.
Building on Rule #3, you do not need to earn the right to sell. You DO want to earn the sale… by being trustworthy, by making hell yes offers, by over-delivering and getting a reputation for doing so, by speaking their language. BUT you do not need to earn the RIGHT to sell.
You don’t need to delay the ask,
or do 18 coffee dates before asking them to buy,
or show up a certain number of times,
or deliver 3.7 emails before you ask them to buy.
Earn the sale,
not the RIGHT to sell. You have that already.
✅ # 5. Hang out with Those Who are Going Places.
Again, should be an #obvious one, but it’s not.
There are a LOT of women entrepreneurs hanging out together… sweating it out together,
cheering each other on,
calling each other “rock stars” and
trading testimonials for which NO ONE paid a dime in product or service…
And they don’t seem to realize,
they are all on treadmills.
The scenery never changing,
the goal lines never crossed,
the thrill of going the distance never felt.
Don’t hang out with treadmillers.
Hang out with women who are driven like you,
who are determined like you,
who will call you out on your own tendency to “treadmill”
and who will be the wind at your back when you MOST need it.
Our moms were right.
Who we hang around with matters. And it matters a lot.
So hang around people who inspire you,
who are achievers,
who are do-ers,
who are change makers…
those who leave the safety of the treadmill room
for the thrill of the open road. (Read more about Women Who WOW here: bmichellepippin.com/meet-women-who-wow)
✅ # 6. Do it Daily.
Yep… daily.
Anything worth doing is worth doing daily.
Here are my three DAILY non-negotiables for my business.
First, I SHOW UP daily. I expect to get paid daily and so I show up daily. I show up and serve. I show up and message. I show up to inspire. I show up to equip. I show up to empower. Showing up… NOT scheduling a post that LOOKS like I’m showing up, but actually showing up and talking with my market… is non-negotiable.
This is how relationships,
and brands,
and empires are built.
The first step is showing up daily.
Second, I ADD VALUE daily. I deliberately add value to my market every single day.
Lastly, I SELL daily. Yes, daily.
When you sell daily,
you get good at selling…
you make more money…
you get more clients…
you get more referrals…
But also, it feels more natural.
It feels less taxing,
and when you’re adding value every day,
selling is simply an EXTENSION of that value…
inviting people to get more, do more, go deeper with you.
What are you doing DAILY to build your business?
✅ # 7. Pursue Progress and Profit over Perfection.
Perfection is another stall tactic.
Delaying YOU reaching your goals,
achieving YOUR purpose.
Recognize perfection as the enemy it is.
Perfection is the enemy of profit, purpose and peace.
Ditch it.
Pursue progress and profit instead.
Also, perfection doesn’t exist.
Done is WAY better than perfect.
Because done DOES exist.
✅ # 8. Accept CASH for payment.
Or credit.
Or even check.
Use square or paypal or wire transfer.
BUT, be a professional and work for money.
Do NOT fall into the trap of accepting any of the following as “payment:”
applause,
affirmation,
acceptance,
attagirls,
or friendship.
Your business — by definition — is designed to bring in a profit. Do NOT burden your business with any of these other goals that it was never meant to carry.
Side note: When business is done right, you often ALSO get the applause, the acceptance, the attagirls and — frankly — I LOVE my business friendships. But it does NOT work in reverse.
✅ # 9: Claim Your Spot in the Marketplace and Be that Person NOW.
No need to wait to be appointed,
or named,
or christened.
Who do you want to be in the marketplace?
Who do you want to be in your industry?
What role do you want to play?
Because there is NOTHING,
absolutely NOTHING keeping you from showing up as THAT person right now.
Not sure where to start?
Write out all the things you would BE, BELIEVE, FEEL, and DO when you are already “there,” when you are already that person.
And then… start being, believing, feeling and DO-ing those things right now.
✅ # 10. Be Sure the Natural, Logical Result of How You are Living and Working Daily is Congruent with What you Want.
We live in a world of cause and effect.
This means that what you do EVERY DAY is far more impactful than what you do ONE DAY.
So, how does your TYPICAL day look?
Look at what you DO,
how you FEEL,
who you are BEING
on a TYPICAL day…
and ask yourself:
is the natural, normal, LOGICAL result of how I am living and working DAILY congruent with what I really want?
If so, keep going. Your WILD success is guaranteed.
If not, though…
as is the case for most of us,
what needs to change immediately in your daily routine in order for your results to be normal, natural, guaranteed?
That’s it really….
10 “rules” to succeed by.
What would you add?
