This is for every woman who ever felt she was born and built for MORE.
This is for every woman who FOLLOWED THE RULES, dutifully, but was disappointed with the results.
This is for every woman who KNOWS she’s a square peg in a round hole.
This is for every woman who LOVES her man but isn’t interested in (or can’t fit into) the typical gender roles defined (pretty clearly) for women and wives and mothers these days.
This is for every woman who has a PURPOSE and a CALLING, and is SICK of life getting in the way of her realizing her OWN God-given potential.
This is for every woman who rolls her eyes at the status quo and rages against mediocrity.
This is for every woman who has — FINALLY — released any and all interest in what people think of her.
This is for every woman who knows she’s on to something and just wants to UNLEASH her brilliance on the world… and get paid HANDSOMELY for it.
This is for us.
Welcome to Women Who WOW.
Welcome to the rebellion.
Here, we rebel against the business rules and business norms that lead to the often-quoted statistic of 80% of businesses failing within the first 5 years.
yeah, those rules.
the rules that so many published authors freaking REGURGITATE as if on cue.
Note: I am typing this from a Barnes and Noble far from my home. I was piling my basket full of books hoping to find a GEM… a diamond in the rough…. Hopefully from a new author, maybe even from a woman author.
First, I was approached by a woman making awkward small talk. This has ONLY happened to me at barnes and noble and ONLY with Amway distributors. So, I knew what it was. I tried to be indifferent but polite. (I hate small talk, especially awkward small talk, and I’m here to get alone with my thoughts….and maybe be inspired by some books.)
Polite didn’t work.
She proceeded to talk about these mentors that trusted her and were mentoring her in “the business” and her job was to find other readers she could mentor. blah, blah, blah.
All talking,
all script,
total awkwardness,
100% ridiculous.
Me: “So, are you with Amway?”
Her: Blank stare, then: “um, um, well, yeah, that’s the e-commerce side of our business.”
Anyway, so I finally get away with a handful of books… wondering if I missed any gems due to her incessant and unnecessary yapping.
Then I sit down and flip through my haul.
I’m bored stiff with the varied authors all pedaling the same stale, over-used, non-nuanced, stiff and impotent advice.
And not just bored.
Also, irritated.
And determined.
I’ve drug my feet on many things.
Becoming a published author is one of them.
Becoming a WIDELY READ bestselling author is another one.
Well, let me just confirm that the landscape for authors is CROWDED but it is crowded with LITTER…. crowded with mediocre, BEGGING for someone to RISE UP and say,
“ALL OF THIS IS BULL SHIT!”
I just want to shout:
No, it doesn’t work that way.
No, you shouldn’t be AFRAID to quit your job.
No, you SHOULDN’T aim for slow growth (out of fear of fast growth.)
No, you shouldn’t wait for X,Y, Z to happen before you push play on YOUR calling.
No, you shouldn’t be open to any and all conversations. (MOST are a waste of your time, and if you’re serious about YOUR purpose, you know that how you spend your time in INTRICATELY linked to your ultimate success.)
Arrrrrggggg!
Anyway, welcome to the rebellion.
Sometimes it takes me breaking out of my home to see how UNCHANGED much of the world is. Largely, I am surrounded by other Woman Who WOW. So, it’s easy for us — the powerful ones — to drown out the whiney, wimpy, asking-for-permission, always-blaming-someone-els e voices that STILL dominate the entrepreneurial landscape.
It is up to us.
to RISE.
to be heard.
to start an entrepreneurial revolution.
Welcome to the Rebellion.
It is up to us to reveal that there ARE no rules… except to wake up and BE us…
to dream BIG
and to do BIGGER.
It’s up to us to CREATE success ON OUR OWN TERMS so that others can SEE that it’s possible.
Welcome to the rebellion, friend.
I’m honored to stand beside you.
Now, let’s get back to our art.
our business.
our purpose.
And let’s NOT be timid about it,
not in any way.
Go big or go home.
Welcome to the Rebellion.
