The worst fear — about yourself —
the fear that was so overwhelming,
and goes back as far as you can remember,
the one you never REALLY allowed yourself to consider
could actually be true…
The fear (or inner knowing?)
that you so valiantly pushed down,
and WORKED SO HARD
for SO LONG
to hustle away from…
Doing better,
going faster,
being more,
leaning further…
ANYTHING to outrun it, really.
And yet, it was always
RIGHT
THERE,
always
WITH YOU,
an anchor of sorts,
though you
ALWAYS
denied it.
The fear of “it”
— whatever it is for you–
simultaneously
keeping you stuck,
and –also — propelling you faster,
in a way that ONLY fear can do.
And then a crack happens.
It lets the light in,
and you get it.
The monster under your bed,
is now exposed.
As 100%, in the flesh, real.
NOW WHAT?!
Having just confronted this realization myself,
the anxiety, the heartache, the anger, the embarrassment, the feeling foolish, the sadness, the loss…
I can say DEFINITIVELY
that the NOW WHAT…
is the same as it’s always been.
The NOW WHAT hasn’t changed at all.
The NOW WHAT,
is that it’s still up to you.
The NOW WHAT is that you’ve got work to do,
you’re here for a reason,
you’re worthy — and also —
RESPONSIBLE for the work,
the dreams,
the heart,
the vision.
You are worthy of AND responsible for
ALL that is IN YOU.
The NOW WHAT
is the same as it’s always been.
No matter WHAT your top fear,
your most sacred or secret fear,
facing it…
reveals
that nothing REALLY changes at all.
So, you may as well just do ALL you’re here to do,
whether your fear is real,
as mine was,
or imagined,
as I hope yours is.
The NOW WHAT is that you have a purpose here.
You are here for a reason.
As the Sunday School song goes,
YOU are a PROMISE.
You are A POSSIBILITY.
You are A PROMISE.
WITH A CAPITAL P.
A GREAT BIG BUNDLE OF
POTENTIAL-I-TY. =)
I’d always heard that 99% of what we FEAR
never comes true.
But I guess what I’m here to say TODAY
is that it doesn’t matter.
The work is the work.
YOUR work is your work.
There is ONLY one you.
So, don’t waste time outrunning the fear.
Fear doesn’t work that way.
Face it.
And then, stay on purpose.
EMBRACE it.
and then, look away.
look towards what you SAID,
what you KNOW
you are here to do.
So, ask yourself.
What if “IT” was true?
What if THAT happened?
And then, keep going. Let’s do this.
