(I posted this on my personal page over the weekend and have received so many private comments. The fact is, we ALL have this internal “struggle” going on. It’s why CHANGE and GROWTH can be hard. We can blame whomever we want when we refuse to go after what we want. But until we look at the REAL battle within ourselves, we risk continuing to “feed” the wrong voice inside. Thank you to EVERYONE for your comments, for your fist-pump moments shared with me, for your RESOLVE, for your courage. It’s an HONOR to stand among you.)
One desires safety and comfort. She’s creative — and persuasive — with her arguments. She’d make a great attorney. Her “wisdom” includes rationale about timing… promises of later…. too little money, too little time, too much to do, too much risk, too little guarantee. Her motto is never “No,” — because you’re way too smart to fall for that — but always “not now.”
She knows that if she can keep getting you to WAIT… waiting will become a habit, your default response to anything that threatens her love affair with the status quo. She loves you, but make no mistake: her TRUE LOVE is for the status quo.
But thankfully… there’s this other woman, too.
She’s courageous. She has a vision. And guts. She sees the future not as a dream, but as a calling. She is in tune with the call on her life. She’s always striving, not for some award or trophy, but to see the FULLNESS of your potential realized.
She whispers encouraging words, inspiring you to STRETCH, to PRESS ON, to say YES. She prods your spirit with unmistakable nudges to ignore that other woman, to go ALL IN, for once… to bet on yourself, to FULLY back yourself this time.
So, which woman wins?
The one you feed.
The one you REWARD with attention.
The one you acknowledge as most real.
And over time, she grows stronger.
More clear. More sure. More accurate.
What’s it going to be for YOU…
today?
