My heart sank — literally — when one of our own Women Who WOW members chose to go to an event hosted by InfusionSoft… instead of a Women Who WOW event. Now, this woman was a member of my inner circle group so she’d have attended our event for free. My heart sinking had exactly ZERO to do with me not making money off of her seat.
This was nearly one year ago today,
but my heart sank because of two things:
- these software-as-service people are AMAZING at what they do, but suck at infusing their technology with heart, which is what is required for short term cash flow and LONG TERM success; and
- these software-as-service events are AMAZING at delivering a complicated list of “should” and “must haves” all while giving you a software that requires so much time and effort that you quickly fall into the thinking, “I’ve invested all this time and energy, let me just tinker with this a bit more… and then it will be PERRRFECT.
Perfect isn’t JUST the enemy of progress,
It’s the enemy of profit.
To date, this woman has STILL not launched a sales offer.
She’s still in the land of preparation, and perfection.
While her example is extreme,
guys…
it’s certainly not rare.
Most of us struggle with sales funnels and selling in general MAINLY because we over-complicate it. We SO burden our message with “shoulds” and “must haves” and bells and whistles that the message itself falls flat, along with whatever offer was made. We delay, delay, delay… polish, polish, polish… perfect, perfect, perfect… so lothat the initial offer that had you so excited…
Well, it loses its shine.
By the time you get to ACTUALLY selling it,
even YOU are sick of it.
And NO amount of expert copy and glossy images can fake HEART and ENTHUSIASM.
So, let’s get to it. Here’s what your sales strategy MUST have, in order to make money TODAY, but also in order to keep income consistent and increasing:
⭐️ YOUR SALES STRATEGY SHOULD INCLUDE AN ENVIRONMENT FROM WHICH PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO ESCAPE.
This– as an #obvious aside — begins with CONSENT. I don’t want to “wake up” inside of an environment I didn’t drive myself to the night before. =) This includes that fancy software that pushes me from being your Linked IN connection to being on your email list. #tacky #emailassault #permissionisrequired.
Other than THAT, most gurus will school you on “how much content” to produce or how long said content should be, and what that content should include or WHICH FORMAT (video, audio, etc.) it should be in… as IF THIS is what creates your sales environment.
Hint: it doesn’t.
Your sales environment should feel like an amazing visit with a new friend. It should be welcoming. They should be able to infer something about YOU fairly quickly upon walking in… It should be an experience for them. One that educates, entertains and empowers them,
But also…
DO NOT FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF GROWING YUUR OWN TRIBE:
Your sales environment should ALSO
AFFIRM them.
It should let them know they found THEIR place. ALL 8 of the linked articles on this page are examples of the latter.
If you do all of this right, frequency, length, format becomes a non-issue…. Moving on…
⭐️ YOUR SALES STRATEGY SHOULD INCLUDE A REAL RELATIONSHIP.
This includes SOME sort of access to you. Via facebook messenger maybe, or on live streams… something.
⭐️ YOUR SALES STRATEGY SHOULD INCLUDE A JOURNEY, WHICH IS YOUR “SALES FUNNEL.”
This ensures that new comers are welcomed into the fold… they aren’t just “dropped into” the craziness. lol… They’re PREPARED first.. prepped… warned. This sales funnel should WALK THEM THROUGH the world they just entered. It should give them the lay of the land, expose them to the passion, the purpose and the people of your business.
⭐️ And yes, the sales funnel,
along with ANYTHING that counts as a sales effort,
should include a “so, are you ready to buy?” question.
Does that make you SQUEAMISH?
Well, you COULD just keep allowing them to get splinters,
riding the fence of information,
while they hoard information
without the RELEASE of implementation (actually taking ACTION)…
but what good does THAT do for your people?
what good does THAT do for your brand?
No good. So, ASK them to buy.
Them buying gives you PERMISSION
to roll up their sleeves and help them.
