Both are okay.
Because if I’ve ever spoken something MORE true,
MORE unfiltered,
MORE RELEVANT to your success,
I honestly can’t remember it.
When I first got on the “national stage,”
I know that I was watched
by some,
who stood absolutely PERPLEXED
by my success.
They saw
⭐️my website,
⭐️my “stage presence,”
⭐️my AWEBER based email funnels,
⭐️my hack-job process of delivering digital products and programs,
⭐️my cowgirl boots,
⭐️my long blond hair,
⭐️my near ABSENCE on social media and
⭐️my CAN NOT BE BOTHERED attitude when it came to networking or shaking hands or being “seen” by the “right people.”
They saw it all
and found me,
how do I say it,
LACKING.
I was “un-cooth,”
unprofessional,
southern,
and brazen.
They saw it all,
and judged themselves
better,
more polished,
more known,
more experienced,
more professional.
They saw it all and wondered
how I got where I was,
how I got on the stages I occupied,
how I filled the events I hosted…
WHEN I WASNT FOLLOWING THE RULES.
When I didn’t bow to the internet “gods” or
the powers that were,
back then.
How did I DO it?
Without pretending,
without fancy-ing it all up.
And also,
HOW DARE I?
✅How DARE I leapfrog over all of those requirements and create success anyway?
✅ How DARE I skip that part of being polished and professional and show up as if it didn’t matter?
✅ How DARE I take the stage and OWN it,
as if I WERE someone….
without the fancy funnels and the pre-requisite pay-to-play mastermind membership with the “right” leaders who MAY JUST have me on their stage if I paid the right amount?
How DARE I indeed.
Let me tell you how.
I skipped the pre-requisite stuff.
I skipped it ALL because I couldn’t afford not to.
Literally… the bills were due and I simply HAD to jump into selling.
So, yeah…
💥 I skipped the whole “Let me coach you for free to build my resume,” B.S.
💥 I skipped the entire “speaking certification” process,
💥 I skipped toastmasters
💥 I skipped belonging to the right associations,
💥 I skipped the chamber membership and the BNI membership and the fancy website developer.
💥 I skipped the incredibly monotonous process of creating complicated funnels in a program that all the cool kids were using.
💥 I skipped ALL the steps that would make me LOOK like a success…
💥I skipped ALL the steps that would make me SEEM like I was a big player,
and INSTEAD…
I JUST did what it took to actually CREATE success.
I just showed up AS the player I was.
And woman,
I am a baller.
I am a formidable opponent.
I am ALWAYS here to win.
I ALWAYS come to be seen, to be heard and to be respected.
I have VERY few skills,
but a lifetime — and renewable– supply of GRIT,
which is what I used then
and use now
to CREATE what I want.
So, here’s where this post gets ugly.
And if you think I’m talking to you…
I am talking to you. =)
Have you ever considered…
that all of these pre-requisite steps you’re taking…
that all of the dotting of the i’s and
ALL of this work
that keeps you CONSTANTLY
and FOREVER
in PREPARATION mode….
is actually the problem?!?!
Have you EVER considered that the rules
and the must do’s
and the must haves
and the must pretends…
are actually KEEPING you from creating the success you want?
Because it ALWAYS keeps you in prep mode?
ALWAYS keeping you in “almost ready” mode?
If you’re OKAY living and working as an “almost,” then THIS polished and prepped and perfect mode is the way to go.
BUT… if you want success…
now,
and on your terms,
you have to just do the thing.
Have you ever considered
JUST DOING IT?
Have you ever considered
just showing up,
being ALL of you,
and making an offer?
Or does your ego
NEED that fancy funnel?
the cool kid software?
the right mentor smiling beside you in the picture?
Because friend…
if you CANNOT stand alone,
NAKED
and stand TALL while doing so,
you will NEVER be a leader in your industry.
Frank Sinatra said if you needed MORE than a microphone and a stage, you were a poser.
I agree.
Because you only THINK you need all of the fancy and perfect and cool stuff. In truth, all you need is YOU…
a message,
an offer,
and the SHEER AUDACITY
to show up like
you
are
enough.
Which you ARE, by the way.
It’s ONLY YOU that thinks you need the business stuff hawked by all the “cool kids.”
